The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world's finest collections of historic ships, including the world's oldest active ship Star of India.

Founded in 1948, the museum grew out of the earlier efforts of a group of local historians and maritime enthusiasts who acquired the sailing ship Star of India in 1927. Now fully restored, the Star of India is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and skilled craftsmen and sailed at least once a year.

The museum’s collection also includes the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, the 1904 steam yacht Medea, the 1914 Pilot, the state’s official tall ship Californian-a replica of a mid 19th century revenue cutter, the H.M.S Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award winning film “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.” and the USS Dolphin a treasure of technology and research and a former US Navy research submarine.

Some sun but I think I'll pass on the snow this time....We didn't even have snow on Mauna Kea this year, an oddity. Lot's snow jobs on the news though.

Do you have a WalMart? Try Dr Scholl’s inserts for plantar fasciitis. It says it right on the package. They make a HUGE difference.

I have a set for my work shoes and a set for sneakers that I just move from shoes to other shoes. They aren’t full soles, just half. They made a big difference for me. The words were right there on the package.

The worst part for me was I was told not to go barefoot any more. Crocs do the trick around the house.

Good morning, Mac...*HUGS*...hope your Monday went well.

Did get your expected snow? And how do your daffodils feel about it?

We got a foot or so, and it is still coming down gently.

ROAD TRIP

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

AWESOME

military, our allies, and their families

Thank you, Lauren, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.

Ahhh, CA...warm weather. But can't go...going shopping.

DC Metro weather

~ Today...Mostly cloudy skies. High around 50F.
Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

~ Tonight...A few clouds. Low near 30F.
Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Where is spring?

Dropping in for a quick look while I enjoy my coffee.
Got taxes done yesterday...big YUCK!
Today, I'm going clothes shopping.

But before I go I plan to make my rounds.
But, you stay right where you are.
But keep the Canteen clean
otherwise you know how Ma gets

So, come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea
pancakes, conversation,
silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT
