Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
RIP my good friend, you were never forgotten by all of us in the DC Chapter.
More of the good Doctor’s feats...
Prayers to his family during this time. 58 is very young.
Oh, I CANNOT believe it. I met him for the first time in New York, November 2000, during the recount debacle. Since then I had the pleasure of freeping alongside him in New York AND D.C.
He was usually haranguing the lefties via megaphone. But he had a voice that didn’t require amplification. And he was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met. Just hysterically, pants-wettingly funny. I am so sorry about his passing.
Yeah, I guess if you think about it, we’re all destined to be ex-Freepers at some point. I guess the best we can hope for (outside of real life services and rememberances) is a kind mention on FR.
Limbaugh once read an entire essay of John Armour's, who was known here as Congressman Billybob.
He was one of the first on my RevWar/Colonial History/General Washington ping list, and he shall remain there always.
Rest In Peace; you will be missed by more than you would ever know.
Prayers up for the good Doctor.
Tremendous FReeper. Even better American.
RIP Doctor Raoul!
Wow, how sad.......The good doctor was the first FReeper I ever had a conversation with here when I first joined years ago........he made me feel right at home.
I met him in front of the White House on a Sat. morning during the Clinton years. He was awesome!
Wasn’t he one of the guys in jail stripes who followed Gore around during the 2000 campaign? He aappeared at Hillary rallies too, as I remember.
And wasn’t he one of the FReepers in prison stripes wearing either a Clinton, or a Gore, mask who cavorted to Huckabee’s Jail House Rock at the 2001 Inaugural Ball? (to everyone’s great glee) And who tossed the stand up cut out of Clinton out into the snow from the 2nd story to the tune of “Hit the Road Jack” at the end of the evening?
I don’t know who was in the masks, but I thought it was Kristinn and Dr. Raoul at the time.
May he RIP and his family find comfort and peace too.
He truly was a Patriot and a class act!
Seeing so many FReepers recalling him and what he contributed to this site is wonderful. I wish that there was some way to contact his family and let them know.
RIP Doctor Raoul. Prayers for the family.
I met Doctor Raoul during one of the DC Chapter's Saturday morning protests of Clinton at the WH...he was very helpful in getting directions PM'd to me as concerned exits to take off the main interstate and parking around the WH...I always enjoyed his additions to the after action reports of those Saturday morning protests...he was indeed a great patriot and prayers go up for him and his family...
I've sent the family the link to this thread.
Thank goodness that his family will be able to read this thread, and will know how much Doctor Raoul was loved and respected.
Prayers for him and for his family. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Thank you, abner. That was very kind of you.
Oh this is just wrong. Doc wasn’t that old!
I was wondering why I hadn’t seen him in ages, now I know why.
Salut, Doc, I’ll remember you tonight.
ping, in case you haven’t heard
My condolences to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of grieving.
Man, it is sad to see him go. I enjoyed reading his posts and comments over the years. Fare thee well, good sir. The Kingdom has another good joe in the ranks.
RIP Doctor Raoul
I remember Hillary talking about him on the Tonight Show. She lied of course....
Something about a guy following her around with a devil suit on, and that he didn’t carry a sign or anything...
She specifically said he didn’t carry a sign!
I have so many stories I don’t know which ones to tell, but his family should know that he made history when Hillary mentioned him during her Senate campaign.
He would appear everywhere Hillary was, dressed in a devil costume, holding a big sign that said “Bill Clinton married my sister.” Hillary said there was a devil who followed her around everywhere but she lied and said she had no idea what that meant.
Thanks for that!
Simultaneous. I guess Raoul wanted us to tell this one.
LOL! Yes, I guess...
Last time I freeped with Doc:
“Step away from the intern, come out with your pants up!” Dr. Raoul Freepin’ away at the White House, 1999.
Isn’t he the one that dressed like a ChiCom general, giving cash to Clinton for technology?
Yes! I remember that too.
I’m truly saddened to hear of this. God bless you for all you’ve done in the name of liberty and fighting corruption, Doctor Raoul.
It was a privilege to stand with him at 34th and Mass Ave telling Al Gore to "Get out of Cheney's house" in 2000.
Someone please notify Ann Coulter who exchanged messages across the years with the Doctor.
So long and God speed Doc. It was a pure pleasure knowing you.
He was one of the great ones. This is terrible news.
Seconded. He deserves that,
Another one of the “charter members” gone. An unflagging patriot and a man of integrity and personal courage. He made the world a better place with his presence.
Thank you for sharing part of your life with us, Doc.
This hits me like a punch in the stomach.
Dr. Raoul and I (along with hundreds of Fellow Freepers) did the “Hillary Stiffs a Waitress” thing.
Dr. Raoul visited our home in 2001.
Prayers for The Good Doctor’s family.
Rest in peace, FRiend.
RIP, Dr. Raoul. You are missed.
Thanks for sharing the sad news of Doctor Raoul’s passing. He was one of FR’s best, and a good friend to so many. Especially to those at Walter Reed. I’ve missed him for a while now I’ll miss him forever.
Very sad. He has been missed. Sorry to hear of the cancer battle as well.
A terrible loss for FR and the country...a man of great courage. RIP, Doc...you’ll be missed.
I’ll never forget when you and Dr. Raoul made Bob Kerrey lose his cool completely...on live television...
Please tell me it’s on youtube somewhere?
RIP Dr Raoul.
