Freeper Doctor Raoul Has Died
Raouls Family | 3/25/2013 | Abner

Posted on 03/25/2013 10:08:35 AM PDT by abner

Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.

Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.

This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.

He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.

He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.

If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.

Oh, no! I truly hate this. He was a conservative warrior, and he made activism fun.

RIP, Dr. R. Your rest is well deserved.

He was instrumental in making our first Fayetteville, NC FReeps successful. He helped us make the moonbats’ day unpleasant.

How I missed this high-profile, wonderful FReeper, I can’t figure out. What a treasure he was. Thank you for the link to some inside information about him. I’m very sorry that I never met him or talked to him on FR.

Only the good die young. RIP, Doctor Raoul.

I still have my" Sore Loserman" sign, carefully put away(for just in case).

My brother and I hearing that Gore went out in Georgetown with his wife eased around to the rear entrance of the Veep's mansion (yes there is one). We found a place where we could hang a "Sore Loserman" sign right over the gate where Gore could see it when he slunk out that way.

I do miss the fun of Saturday Freeps at the White House.

That is my good old brother in the red suit and Santa Hat in the middle of the pic. Kristinn found a front page picture in a foreign newspaper of my brother in full costume. It is framed and on the wal of my brother's den.

I think in the top pic that is me holding a "Sore Loserman" sign standing next to a little old lady from Cherry Hill, N.J. who came all of the way down to D.C. that morning to stand with us.

She was quite something.

That was the best time ever! The party kept expanding from one ball room to three. I think the hotel finally asked us to all go at about 3 AM. Nobody wanted to leave.

Mike Huckabee and his band "Capital Offense" played to the crowd.

People heard about the "Free Republic Count the Silverware Ball" and came from other inaugural balls because ours was so much fun.

Beautiful memories, and of course that is Doctor Raoul on the right as Bill Clinton.

I have a few nice photos of him, but don’t know how to post them. Feel free to take them off my home page.

RIP to a great man. Inspired me to get out and Freep when Hillary came to my state. He even offered to send me the devil costume but I bought my own. The payoff was when I heard Hillary state in an interview that there were a couple of guys following her around in a devil costume and she inferred that it was the same ones all over the country. The actual number of us was much higher. Even though I don’t think I met him, there I was dressed in a devil costume at the Freep of Hillary in Columbia, SC and the Doctor was with us. Made sure I gave him credit for the devil costume idea whenever possible.

I am not sure I have recovered sufficiently to respond to your really, really bad news, VoC. Just devastated. But I’ll give it a go.

The good Doc was a true FRiend to us all, to FReeRepublic and the USA. He defined what it was to be a Real American, and his street theater was always on the cutting edge — always fun and always rooted in the truth.

I knew him as an American, a FRiend, a Patriot and a great crew dog at the many hot air balloon events we worked together. His humor was cutting edge, the sign of a super intelligence and a willingness to go the extra mile to make his devastating put down points.

And he was brave — in the face of the unwashed Commie hordes, he always got the best of them. “Swim to Cuba” comes readily to mind.

There is so much more I’d like to say, and maybe I’ll be able to later.

For now, RIP, Doc. You earned it! You will be missed.

When we prevail, and we will! Doctor Raoul’s name will be at the top of the list of those who helped Take America Back!

Fabulous photos, toldyou. Some great shots of our loyal freepers. Can’t believe that was six and a half years ago.

For those confused about the “Queens Loves Bush” sign, that was the back of another sign, which was made for protesting the very politicized St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Queens. The correct sign for this demonstration, a larger version of a cartoon of Uncle Sam holding the NY Times with blood on his hands, also appears in this group of photos. (This was one of two signs stolen at the protest. Ah, New York.)

Wow, I remember Doc from the Clinton White House Freep days.

Didn't he start the chant, "Drop the cigar come out with your hands up." ?
