Freeper Doctor Raoul Has Died
Raouls Family | 3/25/2013 | Abner

Posted on 03/25/2013 10:08:35 AM PDT by abner

Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.

Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.

This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.

He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.

He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.

If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.

Thank you for those. If I can remember how to post a pic, I have one I took of him at the Freeper Inaugural Ball. Nope, can't seem to remember the html to post an image. <"http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8590904134_4db2d0e22d_m.jpg">

His (MCM’s) post titled, “I was there, Where were you.” was one of the greatest acts of FReeper motivation ever concieved. Mr ConfettiMan, the good Dr, and the entire DC chapter have been our examples of activism in the field inspiring all of us at our local levels and for trips to focus areas such as the Federal District, DOD hospitals, political events and elsewhere.

While FR is Jim’s gift to us, these DC Chapter folks have just as much been our greatest inspiration for activism.

He racked up a lot of miles to get to DC so often.

Every couple of months or so, I would ride down with him. I offered to cover some of the tolls and gas, but he wouldn't hear of it. He helped me move, twice. One time when I missed a FReep because my car's battery had died, he came by and helped me to change the battery. I truly hope he rests in peace.

There are a lot of FReepers that are MIA, and some won’t be back. Every loss is painful for lots of FReepers. Even those who have no personal interaction with a poster.

The loss is real. Prayers up.

Very sad news, and a great loss for conservatives.

Dr. Raul was a stalwart dynamo for the conservative cause. The antithesis of an armchair warrior, Dr. Raul pounded the pavement and articulated the conservative message crisply and clearly across our land. I am a better person to have met him and witness his resolute dedication to promote patriotism and conservatism.

RIP FRiend

Well said, Leni...I first met him at the March for Justice..(and BTW..what happened to Mr. Cigarman?) The good Doctor and I, we Freepmailed often, and he will be missed. Prayers for his family and friends..

AND NOW I AM GOING TO INDULGE IN A MODEST RANT

I'm both saddened, and mad, at the news. Sad, obviously, because a really good guy has left us far too soon, and mad, yes, MAD, MAD because I hadn't realized that he hadn't been posting for some time. I SHOULD have noticed, but that's because FR has changed so much these last years..and not all of it for the best, and instead, we focus on all the crapola around here....

How many really good people have dropped off, dropped out..either because of all the purges, or the endless, mind-numbing threads about Mormonism.. the mean, angry, sanctimonious tone that now so often infects this place..and the many months when FR was slow as molasses..if it worked at all.. but ask anyone who was around way back then...especially, like the good doctor, and myself..members of the GREAT class of 1998..and they'll all tell you..it's not the same..

Maybe change is inevitable..even if it sometimes sucks. Me, I just choose to ignore most of the bad, and just enjoy what is still good about this place, and some that still remain..

And I still miss Howlin...

Pardon the rant....

Oh my, sad, sad news.

Any thread by, or including info about, Doctor Raoul was always a "must read" on FR.

He has been, and will forever be, missed here.

I hope his family reads this thread and all the archive threads, to see what an impact Doctor Raoul had on the life and times of FreeRepublic.

Rest In Peace Doctor Raoul.

The spirit of Dr. Raoul 3/16/12

He said he was laying low..didn’t mention his health, just that he could be better.

“Funny you mention Breitbart. I picked his tux up for him a few years back. He was going to Correspondent’s dinner in DC and would not arrive in time to pick it up from the rental place. Dr.

Had invited him to lunch with DC freeepers. He couldn’t make it, mentioned his tight schedule and then found out rental place was across from our lunch place.

Picked it up, delivered to front desk of hotel prior to his arrival. Funny how he thanked me so much for a small favor”. Dr. Raoul

May you rest in peace, wonderful Freeper...

I do believe it was Dr. Raoul that use to dress up as Nurse Rachett...those were the best!

As originally introduced, the news was showing a bunch of Conservative and Republican demonstrators ~ and sounding amazed that anyone but a dyed in the wool Stalinist would demonstrate.

The Doctor was always entertaining, and given the way leftwingtards react, probably in grave danger on those forays into the very nest of the vipers seeking to destroy America.

He was missed for a long time, and currently, and in the future. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

He died too young ~ but we will save the Republic with his name on our lips.

College kids chanting at us outside the White House visitors exit were really surprised when we chanted at them. Dr. Raoul was so creative and so giving of his time.

Wow. So sad today. We have lost a Freep legend. I remember always enjoying his DC chapter action reports. Always out there giving the libs a hard time with the lively reports and trying to educate those who showed any sign of an open mind.

I know we lost Congressman Billybob (John Armor) a year or so ago, but yes, too often people can just vanish from the FR scene and many we likely never hear what may have happened.

Prayers and blessings go out to his family in their time of loss.

“The full request: “Bill Clinton, put down the cigar, step away from the intern and come out with your pants up!”

I used to read Doctor Raoul’s FReep reports and laugh hysterically at his stuff. This funny chanting the DC chapter used to do every weekend, and didn’t he wear a devil suit or a jail suit? (I haven’t read the thread yet.)

To Doctor Raoul’s family: I just want you to know that your loved one is, and always WILL be, one of the most respected people on this board. He was funny, considerate of others on here, and very passionate about defending our Republic, back during a time when most FReepers were totally distraught about what the clinton’s and their Dixie mafia were doing to our country. I used to get so frustrated that i couldn’t travel to DC to help him and the others protest. The next best thing was reading and savoring every word of his after-action reports, which were always so thorough. It was if he understood how important those reports were to our sanity, as if he knew his words let us experience it vicariously through him!

This Texas FReeper has tears in her eyes, and i guarantee you I’m not the only one, although some of his fellow oldtimers might not admit it.

Save a seat for us, Doc. RIP.

He had the biggest heart. And the best sense of humor. Here's a pic that late FReeper Commies Out took of Doctor Raoul , a long, long time ago:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And here's one I snapped of him as Saddam, with Kristinn outside of the Gridiron Dinner in March of 2004:

And one from a Bill Clinton book tour FReep we did, on July 5, 2004, in Philadelphia:

Doctor Raoul would go almost anywhere, on a moment's notice; and he would do anything for a friend. I knew he was sick, and I kept him in my prayers, hoping he would beat his biggest foe. I am heartbroken. I know God has a special place prepared for the biggest Patriot I have ever known. Rest in Peace, Raoul; you have earned it.
