Howard Schultz to Anti-Gay-Marriage Starbucks Shareholder: 'You Can Sell Your Shares'
Forbes ^ | 3/22/13 | Frederick E. Allen

Posted on 03/22/2013 6:45:19 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

At Starbucks’ annual meeting in Seattle on Wednesday a shareholder complained to the chief executive, Howard Schultz, that the company had lost customers because of its support for gay marriage...

“In the first full quarter after this boycott was announced, our sales and our earnings, shall we say politely, were a bit disappointing,” said the shareholder, Tom Strobhar, whom the Huffington Post identifies at the founder of the anti-gay marriage Corporate Morality Action Center.

Was Schultz taken aback? Not in the least. He responded, “Not every decision is an economic decision. Despite the fact that you recite statistics that are narrow in time, we did provide a 38% shareholder return over the last year...we want to embrace diversity. Of all kinds.”

At that point the audience interrupted in cheers and applause. Then Schultz concluded, “If you feel, respectfully, that you can get a higher return than the 38% you got last year, it’s a free country. You can sell your shares in Starbucks and buy shares in another company. Thank you very much.” More cheers.

...it’s impressive to see a CEO think about more than the bottom line and get cheered by his shareholders for it.

I never HAVE drank Starbelch! It tastes like a burnt tire and is overpriced, EVEN IF it tasted good, which it doesn’t! And now that they’ve made it clear that they prefer perverted customers, I have one more reason for not giving them any of my dough.

I have the great fortune to announce I’ve never bought anything from Starbucks.

I wish I could say same...I've been twice, with friends as a passenger in the car. I bought, and thought, what a waste of money. I, at least, have the great fortune to announce I've never been the driver who parked in the lot.

I have avoided Starbucks for over a year now, I think. And I used to support them as an American success story, defending them when they were mocked for being a big successful corporation.

WTF is going on? Has Satan suddenly come out into the light?

Ten years ago, I would have laughed and rolled my eyes. I'm not laughing anymore and my eyes hurt from rolling too much. Yes. The evil is real and it's here. I just have to figure out if Hussein is the anti-Christ or not. Not sure. Some elements are definitely there. The next three years could get very scary interesting. No tinfoil. None at all.

Just lots of thought.

There are many reasons. But among them are that the schools have been propagandizing for homosexuality for years now, and a new group of young adults has come of age with complete acceptance of homosexuality.

Another big reason is the media have been cheerleaders for homosexual marriage and homosexuality in general. Opposition to same sex marriage is compared to racism. The sitcom with a gay character is a cliche now, this trend of homosexual characters on TV shows being shown as fabulous witty wise friends. It all permeates the culture.

Romans spells out what happens to the people of a nation that ceases to recognize God exists and is our Creator.

Sodomy and all the other depravity aren't actually the problem, they're the festering sores and oozing puss that result from the underlying disease.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of those men that detain the truth of God in injustice :
Romans 1:19 Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made ; his eternal power also, and divinity : so that they are inexcusable.
Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks ; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:22 For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
Romans 1:23 And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts, and of creeping things.
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.
Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie ; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 1:26 For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.
Romans 1:27 And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.
Romans 1:28 And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient ;
Romans 1:29 Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers,
Romans 1:30 Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Romans 1:31 Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.
Romans 1:32 Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death ; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.

I can't think of any society or nation in history that ever denied that God exists and/or claimed man is god as much as this nation. In fact, one of the main things about Ronald Reagan that drove academics, the democrat butt boy media, and democrat fascist politicians, absolutely insane, was the way Reagan gave God credit for not only the Creation, but for blessing and protecting our nation.

As soon as Clinton was elected, filthy jokes about Christians became all the rage on the comedy club circuit and swipes at Christians and Christianity started popping up in everything from TV sitcoms to movies as incidental comments that had nothing to do with the storyline. In addition, that’s when it seems like a major media effort started to try and counter Intelligent Design because there would be negative smartazz comments about it everywhere, even in "documentaries" on unrelated topics. A nation that denies that God exists and is our Creator suffers, it's that simple.

I’ll take a cup of McDonald’s black coffee over Starbucks any day. I’ve had maybe 3 cups of Starbucks in my life and I’m not impressed.

I am a coffee lover, and have simply never understood the Starbucks model.
Who in God’s name goes into those places, and why?

Starbucks Regular Brew always tasted burnt to me. Haven’t had one in years.

I used to drink their Mocha, which I always enjoyed. I really can’t remember the last time I went to Starbucks. If I ever receive a Gift Card as a present, I’ll get that Mocha one more time. Won’t spend my hard earned money there.

As far as Regular Coffee goes, I like Carls Jr. (they have a $1 Geezer Coffee) and Chick Fil A. McDonalds isn’t bad,

Now that McDonalds and many other fast food joints have free WiFi, there is absolutely no reason to ever step foot in a Starbucks again.
