Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) pretty much dumped Senator Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban bill, leaving her feeling a bit betrayed. In fact, it is questionable that a serious background check will make it to the Senate floor.
Feinstein’s response to Reid’s decision was classic. She told CNN, “What Senator Reid told me is that I would have an opportunity for a vote. I take him at his word. I told him also that it would be my intention to separate out the prohibition on the future, manufacture, transfer, sales, and possession of large ammunition-feeding devices of more than ten bullets. I asked him if this could be part of a package. He said no. And I took away from that meeting the belief that we would have a vote on the full bill, and a vote on ammunition-feeding devices of more than ten bullets.”
“This is very important to me and I’m not going to lay down and play dead,” she continued. “I think the American people have said in every single public poll that they support this kind of legislation. It’s aimed to protect children, to protect schools and malls. It’s aimed to dry up the supply of these over time. And it came out on a 10-8 vote of the Judiciary Committee. Not to give me a vote on this would be a major betrayal of trust.”

Sadly I live in CT and the idiots in this state elected Murphy and Blumenthal who live under the delusion that background cheeks for ammo would have prevented Sandy Hook.

Sure he is, and the old cow, DiFi, knows full well that a lot of Commie Senators are up for re-election in 2014, who can't touch something this hot with a ten foot pole.
She's been in the Senate long enough to know how this works. She knew going in, that gun control is the biggest hot button issue in the country. She knows that a lot of members of both houses are going to have to commit political suicide to pass the sort of legislation she wants.
Maybe she's just gotten so old and senile that it just doesn't register anymore. Like some of the old bulls on our side, she may have forgotten where the 'line' is, and will piss off her constituents without even realizing it.
Or, maybe she knows exactly what she's doing. Head fake, anyone?

Things like the fact that applications for gun permits in Newtown, Conn. are up. The fact that gun sales are through the roof around the country. The act that polls do not support her agenda.
Feinstein et al are in a bubble talking to themselves. They are clueless. As far as “betrayal” ha! back to ya, we believed you meant your oath.

The dems got what they wanted. Lots of face time to appease their insane base, plus the MSM barrage pushing more Americans to believe that guns really are THE problem. They likely moved the percentage their way, the crisis is over, so rather than losing the senate and their power, they stopped.
They understand when to stop. They push the envelope, then pull back to the safety of their power, knowing they've moved public opinion incrementally, and now they lie in wait to move public opinion again with the next shooting.
Too bad our purists don't understand how to gain and keep power like their purists.
