Rape is an act of violence where sex is the weapon. They meant to degrade and demean her and in this way be superior. It’s a common enough human trait and why God had to reestablish the Ten Commandments - people without God get increasingly depraved.

She doesn’t sound like a paragon of virtue, like you say.

But wanting to “do” the entire team is not the same thing as wanting to be on display before the whole world being raped, sodomized, subjected to oral sex, and being pissed on - while being mocked over her inability to doing anything to stop it.

And to have these things done to her in the homes of the COACHES and the PROSECUTOR, for heaven’s sake! Sounds like the head coach was making threats to media members who asked about the fact that none of the players were even disciplined after all the booze-and-drugs partying, rapes, and boasting about the rapes were publicly known - because the players didn’t think they had done anything wrong! Wow, if they had murdered somebody but claimed they didn’t think it was wrong, we’d say, “OK, I guess you didn’t do anything wrong....”?

Sounds like the players had the coaches and everybody associated with that team eating from their hands. It’s no wonder they acted like they were God - their whole world was treating them as if they were!

Why would members of the community threaten the prosecutor to protect these dirtbags?

Maybe because the community knows more about it than we do.

Has the Zimmerman case taught us nothing?

We should be rearing our boys to be the kind of men who are protective of the weaker members of our society, not men who take advantage of the weaker.

You can have "protection" or you can have "equality."

You can't have both.

I'm beginning to appreciate Ayn Rand's antipathy for "altruists."

>> would she experience sudden loss of consciousness like that?

No, not at all. Nothing like that. It makes a person complacent, not unconscious.

Here is a list of drugs, some of which can cause loss of consciousness: http://onestudent.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/common-drugs.pdf

The loss of memory happening so fast doesn’t make sense.

Judging from how many threads about this rape you’ve commented on, blaming the victim with such anger and hate, I’m guessing you were somehow involved in this rape or have been accused and/or convicted of rape.

I'm guessing you learned how to carry on an argument by watching sixth grade girls.

Yes, that clip where the guy can't stop laughing about her being "deader than OJ's wife" and other deceased people was beyond disgusting. While she's very probably in need of medical attention the guy's on camera unable to stop laughing about the degrading things done to her and her inability to do anything about it. He showed zero regard for her as a human being. She was nothing more than an object for use and abuse.

How do you know the speed at which a memory loss takes place?

On one of the several times I have been called for jury duty, several years ago it was a date rape case involving two students at the local college.

During jury selection, the facts of the case seemed to admitted by the defense. They both were drunk, decided to get out of the car to continue ‘making out’, she said “STOP” and he did not.

The defense lawyer had the accused all cleaned up neat & tidy in a suit & tie. It appeared that they had hired a gorgeous ‘babe’ from central casting, dressed up prim & proper like ‘Marian the Librarian’, to pose as legal secretary and sit next to the accused.

Implication? “Why, if this beautiful, pure young woman is safe sitting next to the accused, then he MUST be innocent!”

When the defense attorney questioned us, the prospective jurors, he learned that I was a former Marine captain, a Vietnam veteran with three daughters. He quietly said, “You are dismissed.”

My thoughts on that case (without hearing the full testimony)?

Yes, the girl was really stupid. But, she will have to live with the memory of the results of her stupidity for the rest of her life.

Yes, the man was probably enticed and aroused by the girl.

But, NO means NO. Period!

My solution to the problem of date rape?

Have video booth vending machines on campus, at the mall and in the nightlife district. Both parties sit in the booth and have a brief “Mutual Consent” deposition videotaped. A copy is retained in the machine. Another is stored on a small memory chip attached to the “Consensual Sex Affidavit” form that is printed out. After it is witnessed by two people, it becomes a legal document, absolving the man of any exposure to rape charges. If he does not have one, he’s guilty.

Will anyone use these? Probably not. But they may make BOTH the guys & the girls behave a bit more prudently (yes, “prudently”, as in ‘Prude”) ....or a least THINK about behaving...

[just my 2 cents worth]

Is it known whether she had anything in her system before they picked her up? There may have been circumstances that weren't admissable that aren't publicly known. She may already have been under the influence (of her own accord or otherwise). Or she could have been on medication that would have caused something else to act more potently than it might have done otherwise.

Prosecutor Jane Hanlin’s son is suspected of being a participant in the revenge rape.

Date rape through the use of roofies happens all the time. The drug leaves the system almost immediately, is hard to trace, and leaves one in a zombie state - awake but not aware of anything. It is an epidemic on college campuses.

It’s called research, douche bag. Why don’t you try it instead of asking stupid questions?

Jane Hanlin is the original prosecutor in the case. Her son is Charlie Keenan, a football player suspected of being a participant.

When do the arrests and civil suits start against those that provided the party house and booze?

Good points. My understanding is that any testing for drugs may have been too late to be accurate. Others here have said that the drug used is known, where it was acquired from, etc. If that is true, it will hopefully come out.

What happened was terrible. The least we can do is try to understand what could have been done to prevent it.

It is obvious that changing the attitudes of people who poo-pooh this kind of stuff is critical. And that includes the whole “safe sex” mentality, that people are animals and can’t help but behave like animals.
