STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin and her family had to leave town during the juvenile rape trial because of threats made against both her and her family.

Sunday evening, Hanlin confirmed that threats had been made, and she found them to be credible. Hanlin said there were instances of threats before, but the number of threats of a specific nature grew.

"As the trial date grew closer, we received a number of them that seemed to be more credible than others," Hanlin said.

Sorry, no recovery needed here. You, on the other hand might never recover from your own stupidity........

You're right, I'm beginning to think variations on "you're stupid" is your default setting.

Funny how "I'm stupid," but you can't seem to muster anything more incisive than tedious repetition, or false attribution.

even if she is a slut, that doesn’t make rape okay

Actually variations of stupid seems to be your default setting....

You've been framing this from the very beginning that it wasn't really so bad, not really rape, just consent from 16 year old girl who was just as bad, or just as wrong as the boys; or alternatively journalism exactly like the Zimmerman case.

Now that they've been convicted of rape, you just keep on moving the goal posts, trying to defend what you said.

Same stubborn idiocy, just doubling down on it. Your default setting......

They were carrying her around as dead weight, for pete’s sake! How much more “out of it” does a person need to be? How much more “out of it” can a person get?

Spotty and inferential? As I understand it, the boys admit they did it, admit that she was out of it, but said they didn’t think they did anything wrong because they didn’t have to force her to do anything. Am I mistaken on that?

No, but I do understand how a person of you limited faculties has to shoehorn your opposition into such convenient little cliches.

I do entertain the possibility this the girl is not the victim self-appointed white knights like you make her out to be, and have risen to task of defending that position (without the use of hearsay, speculation, or self-serving hypotheticals, I might add).

Further, I have maintained the Zimmerman case should make us all wary of conviction by press account.

If that's "stupid" to you, you don't know what stupid means.

And for the record, you'd have a better chance of proving my stupidity if you'd stop stealing my idioms.

Getting drunk is stupid and this gal was very possibly less than pure.

That doesn’t mean that guys should (either legally or morally) rape her when she’s passed out. Does it?

You said, “So far as I can tell, there is nothing that happened to this girl that isn’t regularly solicited by other women every day, so the actual events, degrading as they may be, do not constitute a rape.”

That has to be the stupidest logic I’ve heard in a long, long time.

Some people choose to drink arsenic so somebody forcing arsenic on me is CLEARLY not murder...

What was to be learned from Penn State, their endowment is larger than ever...they had a pretty good season last year, things are looking up for their program....they’re doing great...ok, so they don’t get to go to some lame non-BCS bowl game for a few years, and as it turns out, that might actually be saving them money, seeing as how it’s been documented that schools usually lose money on going to bowl games.

Admittedly, not much.

However, I have heard no claim that the videos record the entirety of the participants (girl and boys) actions. Without that, and without the girl's recollections, I don't know how a rape charge can be sustained without violating "presumption of innocence."

There were witnesses. As I understand it, the guy in the front seat (whose girlfriend talked this girl into going to the party in the first place) admitted that he videotaped 2 guys raping and sodomizing her in the back seat of the car.

If what’s been said here is correct, we now know why that video went missing: the head coach told the guys to get rid of the evidence, which (if so) is also obstruction of justice.

This sounds like a mafia-type place. So dysfunctional that the guys thought they would diminish this girl by the story getting out, when in reality it only exposed their depravity - and apparently the whole place is just as depraved as the guys were. Their excuses and enabling is morally just as much to blame for all this as the boys who acted out what everybody was telling them from the get-go.

Why in the world would I want to prove your stupidity when you are doing such a good job all by yourself?

I do entertain the possibility this the girl is not the victim Sorry, you're lying, you portrayed it at all times as she was as guilty as the boys. Now that there has been a verdict not to your liking, you're just sputtering nonsense and trying to move the goal posts as you fumble around.

Further, I have maintained the Zimmerman case should make us all wary of conviction by press account. Uh, I hate to break it to you (realizing you might not actually know this), but THEY WERE CONVICTED BY A JUDGE, THE TRIAL IS ACTUALLY DONE!

Yes, this most certainly is a descriptive picture of you, or something like it:

Oh, and I didn't steal it from you........

I don't know, but I have a hard time believing ANY defense attorney would go into court with nothing but "she wasn't conscious enough to tell them 'no.'"

As I understand it, the defense alleged numerous indications of her cognition and cooperation.

Obviously, the court rejected those claims, but I don't believe that rejection, in and of itself, proves the claims had no merit.

There is apparently proof that she became this drunk in less than an hour based on photos taken of her before, which makes it highly likely that she was given a drug, imo.

Now that it is pretty easy to retrieve meta data off of pictures, it’s pretty easy to create a timeline.

It wouldn't surprise me to find she was drugged, it's seemingly likely that was the case. Unfortunately, we'll never know for certain unless someone confesses to drugging her.
