House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters present at her weekly Capitol Hill news conference to “get excited” about newly elected Pope Francis.

While discussing with Capitol Hill reporters on Thursday her experience watching the selection of the new pope, Pelosi said: “Isn’t it exciting? I think so. Get excited. This is big, this is big.”

Earlier in the press briefing, Pelosi said she was happy to hear Pope Francis chose his name based on Saint Francis of Assisi, for whom Pelosi’s home city of San Francisco is named. …

Why is Nancy excited about Pope Francis?

Has Pelosi finally repudiated her support for abortion and gay marriage?

The new pope condemns both.

I’ll get excited when the new Pope throws Nazi Pelosi out of the Catholic Church for obvious reasons.

IMO the only thing that excites Pelosi and her kind is exercise of power. She must not view Francis as any threat to her power or her scandalous branding of self as Catholic while wielding that power.

She probably thinks he is pro-Socialist due to his poverty stance, or something.

As usual, Ms. Baloney is flat wrong. Yes, the pope has chosen as his inspiration St. Francis and that is a wonderful tribute.

OTOH, all people of knowledge agree that the name of the city San Francisco is a derivation of sissy; it’s a consensus among those of knowledge.

I’m pretty sure Pelosi is presently in a full blown case of dementia. Nothing else can possibly explain how idiotic she sounds.

Bella Pelosi is not what I’d call the mistress of ontological thought.

Nobody who supports abortion is an advocate of Catholicism, quite the opposite. They may be baptized, and they may attend Mass, but if they support abortion they are actively anti-Catholic. Obama is the most pro abortion president ever and pretty much against most of Catholic teachings.

Catholics for Obama is akin to Jews for Hitler, it makes about as much sense. Kmiec is just showing blithering idiocy by making such a statement.

This just shows that well-known people can be caught up in the hype. CNN and other media is showing positive coverage of the “event” of selecting a new Pope. When they and Pelosi find out about his positions, they will take a different line. It just shows that Pelosi hasn’t been keeping up with long-held views of Pope Francis.

I am not a Catholic but if I were Pope, I would do whatever I could to distance people like Pelosi who claim to be Catholic but do every thing in their power to kill those innocent little infants. That is just too much for a Church claiming to be just to allow. If they allow such to be members in good standing then they are doing great evil. I don’t think a church should be allowing great evil.

54% of all Catholics voted for Obama in 2008 (45% for McCain)
50% of all Catholics voted for Obama in 2012 (48% for Romney)

62% of all Catholics are for gun control according to a recent poll

Clean it up, or split into yet another schism.

He also believes the world isn't flat. He wouldn't have been chosen to pope if he didn't subscribe to such fundamental beliefs. There could easily be things that both support but traditionalist Catholics don't, and vice versa - Tridentine Mass, for instance.
