Subtitle: Whites, race, class, and the things that never get said.
My younger son goes to Temple, where hes a sophomore. This year hes living in an apartment with two friends at 19th and Diamond, just a few blocks from campus. Its a dangerous neighborhood. Whenever I go see Nick, I get antsy and wonder what I was thinking, allowing him to rent there.
One day, before I pick him up for lunch, I stop to talk to a cop whos parked a block away from Nicks apartment.
Is he already enrolled for classes? the cop says when I point out where my son lives.
Well, given that its December, I think so. But his message is clear: Bad idea, this neighborhood. A lot of burglaries and robberies. Temple students are prime prey, the cop says.

At the same time, white Philadelphians think a great deal about race. Begin to talk to people, and its clear its a dominant motif in and around our city. Everyone seems to have a story, often an uncomfortable story, about how white and black people relate.

I have become a “cultural” racist when it comes to blacks.
thomas sowell, Ben Carson, Col allen West....no problem.
Blacks on the street ...forget it.
I read the article, I wanted to copy and send it to a few people and file it but I cannot get it to copy and it looks like the gestapo will work to get it surpressed.
Part of the “conversation on race” that Eric Holder says we’re too cowardly to have.
It’s payback time for Whitey, I’m not sure how it can be prevented.
I am a Caucasion woman, I do not talk to men, only women. But the men think I am a soft touch and are always heading my way for help or whatever. I just walk right past them. Totally ignore them. When I walk downtown or in the courthouse in the elevator, I keep to myself and avoid all that mess.
Odd that you can’t get it to copy. Have you tried highlighting only the text of the article, copy, open word processor, paste.
I just copied that first page that way with no problem.
After you get all 5 pages or whatever, save the document and send it as an attachment.
It crashes my Word every single time. Can you post it to the thread?
I attended college in Newark, NJ (Newark College of Engineering). Sometimes I would take the Amtrak to Philadelphia (the Amtrak ticket was cheap then). While looking out the window when approaching the North Philadelphia, I saw some city blocks that looked like Dresden after the bombing.
One round of 00 buckshot at a time, in self defense of course.
Yep. And this author was indeed taken to the woodshed by black readers. The article came out a couple of weeks ago or so, and a critique by a local black agitator quickly followed, and that was promptly followed by a very defensive twitter feed hosted by the magazine's editor. And then there were the "letters to the editor", lol.
It's all pretty hilarious. The author (a regular writer for the magazine) should have known better. Sure, he tried his hardest to be politically correct throughout his article, but then he goes and relates true facts and quote actual stories from white people. What a clown.
A white person has to be a moron to talk honestly about race.
The moral of the story? Just shut up, keep your distance, and watch your back.
I work up in Philly from time to time. It not a safe place to travel.
actually I think he is brave,
actually I think he is brave,
If it’s going to be suppressed, that’s a good reason to copy it.
All the problems are caused by white Americans going into black neighborhoods and acting up. /s
Gee you sound sweet. Can I get you anything?
there’s a difference between urban ferals and those that escaped the urban war zone/plantation.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - November 14, 2012 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are warning Temple University students to be careful around campus. Armed robbers have been targeting people in the area over the last few days.
Action News spoke with several students who say they received an advisory Wednesday morning from the school warning them of the armed robberies. Police say the robberies are taking place off campus in some of the areas where students live.
On Sunday around 8:30 a.m. two Temple University students were walking along the 2000 block of N 18th Street when a man approached them. He held a gun to one of their faces. A 21-year-old woman handed over her cell phone; the other woman, a 22-year-old, handed over her purse, which had her ID and debit cards inside. The man then fled down 18th Street.
Roughly 12 hours later, around 8:15 p.m., a 19-year-old student was walking along the 1600 block of West Edgely Street. A man pointed a gun at him and ordered him to the ground, but nothing was taken.
Then around 6:00 Monday evening another student was robbed at gunpoint on the 2100 block of N. 16th Street. The 18-year-old had been walking from her nearby home when a man appeared with a large, black semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at her head. He then fled east on Diamond Street with her cell phone.
Police say the latest victim's cell phone does not have tracking capabilities, and the cell phone in the first case had been turned off.
Ray Betzer of Temple University tells Action News, "The city came to us and said we think there may be a pattern here. And whenever there is a pattern we want to make sure our students are aware of it."
A couple students say they were not surprised to hear of these robberies, but will use extra caution.
Sophomore Alexa Bury responded to news of the robberies by saying, "I wasn't too shocked because we do live off campus at Temple."
"It's a part of city life," explains sophomore Dylan Ernst.
I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, in the 1940s and 1950s. The city was divided in half: whites on one side and blacks on the other. They had little to no interaction.
Did I miss something?
I work with a lot of black women and I love almost all of them. We all get along and talk and laugh and work well together. But we were having a luncheon last year and I looked up and noticed one table with all black women and my table was all white women. I don’t think it was purposely done, it just happened that the different races chose to sit together. Weird.
bfl
I remember hearing about an emergency room doctor at the University hospital being held up at knifepoint by a black kid. 4 nights later the good doctor was hovering over the black kid in the emergency room-the kid had been knifed.
As a matter of fact I am looking for a good boring man who is orthodox Catholic, if you find one, send them my way.
But whitey in Philly still voted 0bama.

The PHRC will hold a public meeting in the Fairmount/Brewerytown section of the city on April 18th, and residents are encouraged to attend to share their stories, concerns, and recommendations for changes.
LMBO!!!
You can't make this stuff up!

You do not have to be a moron to talk about race.
Certainly you will be called racist-—ignore that
Sticks and stones. Being called a racist doesn’t bother me at all. I simply say that I am no more racist than Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton, or Barrack Obama.
The truth.
Why is it ok for every black in the House to belong to the CBC, for Hispanics to belong to the Hispanic Caucus, and there is no White Caucus.
You want to find racism? Start looking where it is.

I would advise any white person who attends this public meeting and intends to tell the truth to go there armed.
I would expect to see a lot of whites there apologising for the story and sucking up to the mayor.White guilt a-holes will be everywhere, while those who would tell the truth will be frightend to do it.
The safety of anyone who goes there with the truth cannot and will not be guaranteed.
Whatever you say do not give your real name or address if you do not wish to become a victim.
If you’re in Kansas (really I mean the Kansas City area) and you want a “good boring man who is orthodox Catholic” here’s a suggestion (a serious one):
or
right across the border in Missouri:

Good, orthodox Catholic men. They’re not necessarily boring, but I think you are tough enough to handle a little excitement.
Go read the anecdotes about the make ups of tables during the breaks on the set of "Planet of the Apes".
Those similarly "made up" and costumed sat together in groups...
Sounds like one of BHO’s study groups, meeting convened, meeting over, problem solved.
Interesting.
Well counsel, you certainly have my prayers. There is no way on earth that I could live in or near those cesspools.
When I read threads like this, I am reminded of just how blessed I truly am to live in the sticks and on top of my mountain. Last week, a neighbor watched a cougar run off with one of my ducks and that is about as dangerous as it gets around here.... poor duck.
Stay safe.....

I felt the same way about the Spring Garden Station stop on the way to Reading Terminal in 1983.
Good luck to any of you who live in urban feral paradises.
Great response lol.
I’ve seen your posts many times and didn’t think you were as hardbitten as this last one sounded to me.
I appreciate your keeping your cool in response to my being wise.
I’ll keep an eye out for a good fellow close to your description. I bet you deserve one.
I grew up in Philly and attended Temple.I lived with my parents and took a trolley car and the subway every day.It would’ve been suicidal to live anywhere within 20 blocks of the school.
I basically agree with everything you said, except I’m pretty sure athat if this “meeting” ever actually takes place it will be populated mostly by angry, frowning blacks crying about victimhood and “racism”. And sure, there will be your usual cadre of metrosexuals and their wives (or “husbands”) on hand to apologize and patronize and wring their hands. But I cannot imagine any normal whites will show up to speak the truth - - that would be pathetically stupid.
Philadelphia is another failing, Democrat run city, similar to Detroit but not as far down the drain. Being White in Philly just means you haven’t moved out yet.
My oldest son went to Temple and lived in an apartment across from the Art Museum over there at 22nd(?) and the Parkway. There was a very regular and convenient shuttle back and forth to campus. My youngest son now goes to Temple and he lives at 14th and Diamond. He steps out his front door and sees the campus less than a block away. Plus, there’s a cop car on that corner 24/7. I think my son is reasonably safe.
But the kid in this story, out at 19th and Diamond? Wow... The Raymond Rosen projects may be gone, but the Raynond Rosen people are still there. No freaking way would I let my son live near that area. It’s amazing what 5 blocks can mean in North Philly.

Rizzo was a cop and then a police commissioner before he served two terms as mayor.
When a reporter asked then Commissioner Rizzo how he planned to deal with a black anti-police organization he said: “When I'm finished with them, I'll make Attila the Hun look like a fag.”
Taking the trolley to and from Temple was not safe even back in my day

I took a picture of some parrots in Brazil; later I was looking at it. There were lots of other types of birds in the cage but the parrots all perched together and not just “the” parrots. All the parrots which had similar markings perched together. Look at animals in general. Dogs and cats don’t hang out together. In spite of Walt Disney, mice and rabbits don’t hang together. Self segregation is the natural order of all animals, including humans.

"An electric chair on every corner" -- Frank Rizzo
that’s what gets me....these stupid whites keep voting for rats......
Thanks for the beautiful graphic.
