“And upon this rock I will build my Church. . .” Here then Christ teaches plainly that in the future the Church will be the society of those who acknowledge Him, and that this Church will be built on Peter.”
Official church doctrine, that is one of the many benefits of being real Catholics. We know the rock that we stand on. The Pope is responsible to those who acknowledge Him. If you assume that a church leader is responsible for Christians attendance of services, then all would be abmissmal failures. God has His role, and pretending to assume it , is original sin.
Peter was not just called the Rock to which I shall build my church....you might want to read what Jesus also said Peter was to be.
