I'm on an old work computer that I've used for years so I know it's not on my end, but FR seems to be running faster/smoother....Sweet!

Gentelemen, tho I'm loathe to say anything for fear of tempting the wrath of the IT gods, things DO seem to be zipping along faster than they have for YEARS !

Congrats, and many thanks ! !

(crossing fingers just in case . .)

This thread seems to be by way of being a thank you thread!

THANK YOU to John and Jim Rob .... and all the FReepers who support the efforts here!

Less traffic. All the Catholic posters are in conclave.

Yes, indeed it is. Didn’t really notice it until you said something. The hanging up between clicks is gone. Bravo to someone!

Nice and thanks for the technical details - I agree that things are smoking (in a good way!).

besides, hardware needs a good smoke test.

I've noticed that once you let the smoke out of the magic gray boxes they don't work as well.

One question I’ve always wondered about. I see the local chit chat on my feed (i.e. my state) and aside from the fact that it’s not something I necessarily want or need it always seems to be 2 months behind - I see conversations in March from back in January. Can this be turned off or o/w configured?

The difference is like night and day here in the Southeast US. If the JRs are just giving a trial run to the new server(s), please buy it/them...with a good service warranty, of course.

It's NOT your imagination. FR has undergone a big upgrade!

OLD Server: 'Cheetah 01'...

NEW Server: 'Cheetah 02"...

The move from 5 1/4" floppy to hard drive is really making a difference!

That IBM PC/XT has an EGA color monitor. Now that is upscale. Nice!

wow... 1 seconds to post and load the thread and display it.

Im pinging +/-100 milliseconds, give the browser a half second to render, so less than a half second server side.

Impressive.
