Well, I’ve always been more satisfied with Walmart than the government. Do you think Walmart would do a worse job than the government? I don’t.

Here are some links on the Walmart influence. I will be interested in your thoughts after reading them.

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/study-proves-walmart-super-stores-kill-local-small-businesses-article-1.140129

Someone told me Walmart had a pattern of overbuilding in a city, selling for less than they did in their other stores, forcing other businesses to fail, and even failing themselves, but then scooping up vacant property to sell. This surprised me, but then I check Google and found this at: www.walmartrealty.com

“Welcome To Walmart Realty

Walmart Realty, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., is a real estate company that offers many development opportunities nationwide. Walmart Realty concentrates on commercial real estate located in or around our current and former locations. Walmart Realty’s mission is to find businesses to open in our former stores and clubs and to locate in available property around our stores. At Walmart Realty, we believe we have a responsibility to work with communities to find a use that generates economic growth and opportunity. We work at the local level with local brokers, economic development officials and elected leaders to find partners that best suits the needs of each local community.”

Walmart is currently attempting to put 6 Walmarts into Washington, DC. This is a hot and growing market for real estate. So when their Walmarts destroy the neighboring businesses they can buy them up, and assembled with their own buildings which will be 2 to 4 stories, they will be able to combine these large blocs of land and pay politicians for rezoning to 10 story buildings and make much more than they do by selling cheap Chinese merchandise.
