The Talk Shows
March 3rd, 2013
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Mitt and Ann Romney.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): White House economic adviser Gene Sperling; House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio; Rep. Raul Labrador.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., John McCain, R-Ariz., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sperling; Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Sperling; Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.; Reps. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., and Greg Walden, R-Ore.
What I can't and never will understand is how Mitt would even consider putting himself, let alone Ann, in the same room with ANY of those media pimps.
Put in the same position, I'd have to be restrained from tearing the phony [BLEEP]'s head off, national television and all.
Disagree. The welfare state is unsustainable. Kicking the can down the road will not solve our long term problems. We just added a third entitlement program, Obamacare, that will just hasten the bankruptcy of this country.
Yabut, Bush has been out since 2008/9.
I think the big question for Boner, Ryan, Cantor etc, is:
"Why didn't you slam on the brakes when you took back the House?"
I agree..Boehner did ok...but we need more “emotional” presentations on the spending and Obama care and gun control:
the Rape victims that advocated NO gun control that Beck had on his program.
Hysterical Greeks and Italians that are now devestated by their economy telling us how it would be like this for us.
Frightened seniors that their medicare and health care will be cut if we DON”T deal with the issue NOW and what Obamacare is already doing.
Dems win through emotions...we appeal through intellect and that won’t work for Low info Voters.
Well stated PB. The only other alternative is a third Party, which if we are going to lose anyway is a real possibility. If everything we know about politics is wrong, then fearing a third party is wrong too.
Pray for America
I agree!!!!
Specifically, I blame Bush/RINOs for giving us Ubama and his communism.
Every day it looks like that was the plan of the shadow govt.
Support conservatism! Remember every time it's tried it works(RR)!
When one of our guys gets out of line their should also be consequences. If conservative values are meaningless than what kind of party do we have?
Gotta work today.I'll be on the road soon. If we have a sitting governor that sells out the election for a few bucks he might get from the dear leader take away his republican credentials and send him to the all mighty independent side.
When we have an ex-general who does radio commercials for the Dear Leader three days before a major election send him packing.
If there are no consequences for actions there is no party worth fighting for!
They may both be responsible, but not equally responsible. It is the welfare state that is killing this country. It started with FDR and was expanded by LBJ and Obama. Yes, Bush 43 added the prescription drug program, but the Dems are the architects.
It all boils down to different views on the role of government. The Dems are the party of Big Government and the Reps are the ones who want a smaller Big Government. The ruling class has decided our fate and the public must follow along. In fact, most of the public seems to support the culture of dependency.
53 degrees here in the Fab Fla.Keys....Just turned the heat off and opened the front door....
He's right.
It's all about the debt ceiling that comes up soon. No attention on the debt ceiling at all. Tons of attention on the sequester, faux administration outrage,Axelrot at his finest hour he shanked us again. Another look at the right hand not at the left.
So Gregory is doing his job, to promote Marxism. In related news: the sun rose in the east.
Pray for America
Let us all understand one important point about Sunday Morning Show guests....
The Leftist editors and hosts of these shows absolutely have an agenda.
They’re trying to set a meme for the week of news ahead, or to continue to push one from last week...
Did I mention they’re Leftists?
They are the vangaurd of the new Communist movement, now known as the US democratic Party.
They are not journalists or reporters but rather propagandizers.
Propaganda for the democrats/communists/socialists/Leftists/Obama/Clintonites is what they DO. They have a lot of work each Sunday to set up the week for their agenda.
To that end, only guests that can fulfill that agenda are invited on the shows.
That means Graham, McCain, Chuck U Shumer, Durbin, Ayote, etc, etc are there BECAUSE that fits the Leftist spin cycle for the week.
So we won’t see, for example, Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio week after week.
Graham and McCain think that they’re representing conservatives and it’s better to get face time than let yourself be pwned by the likes of Gregory, Shieffer, Steponallofus, Crowley and Wallass, but they’re sadly mistaken.
I believe they’re both on a lot because it serves the hosts well to have them, and each are too vain to realize just how pliable they really are. They really are fools.
Yeah Bob we are so much better off with the Dear Leader I totally agree, can’t believe what I read sometimes.....
Got it, kabar. I gotta run to church, but wondered if anyone else had watched ABC and Carville. I wasn’t paying full attention with the TV on in the background, but I swear he was sounding like a conservative! Warning about European socialism trends, etc. I started wondering if I was losing my hearing.
Good take kabar. If we don’t support conservatism more and more in the Republican Party we will get what we deserve.
26 degrees up here and snowing (just a tad) on the blooming daffodils!
Great summary AB!Depending on you guys for input today while I work.
Whoa too cold for me!!I gotta go to N.Fla tomorrow, don’t know if I can get out of the van for very long!!
In some ways, the Reps have been enablers. They should be frank with the public and say that you have a choice, higher taxes to pay for the welfare state or a reduction in the welfare state and lower taxes.
I think it was our dear old friend Phsstpok who clued us into the idea of the weekly meme... That the Sunday shows were not about telling the news of the week or burning issues but rather SETTING them.
Ever since those days, I have carefully watched the shows, and especially the comments here, to the point that week after week Phsstpok’s wise teachings are confirmed.
Note Gregory today... Set Boehner up! Basically, the meme here is:
-You lie
-Republican’s fault
-Shoulda just accepted a few more taxes to help the country
Game, set, match... Or for you Rod, hook, line and sinker!
The Romneys may be a class act in your opinion.
romney started Obamacare in Texachusetts, he was (and probably still is) pro abortion, pro queer marriage.
People like romney are nothing more than wanna be Kings - No different than Mclame, chrispie cream, obummer - take your pick.
Not one of these asses has any desire for limited G’ment.
Hence my term RATagandist®.
The People’s Republic of Oregon is supposed to be a balmy 58 today. May have to do a bike ride.
Hey, Rod, check out the Bing photo of the day:
It is 7 mile bridge in the Florida Keys. I think I see you out on the flats hooking a Tarpon!
Romney won the nomination and I was thrilled to be voting for him AGAINST the current president. It is still unbelievable to me that Obama won. We will all regret it. America would be out of the control of Marxists and on its way to recovery if Romney had won.
Rodman on Stephy...
UN-FRIGGIN BELIEVABLE!
“ what about his prison camps?”
answer from the unbelievable self-centered, stupid basketball player......”We have those too!”
He goes on to say that about Kim Ung...”He’s a humble man.”
I am speechelss...this was so awful.
If the ‘latest Simpson-Bowles Plan’ has a tax increase, it is just another bad plan. One thing needs to happen, manage cost.
Tax increases have been shown to hurt the economy of those in the private sector who do have to manage cost.
Boehner needs to be the one who manages cost, being no one else will. He’s already helped diminish private sector opportunities by going along with the Democrat’s tax increase.
I'm a bit more cynical than you are, AB. I think they are complicit and expect to remain among the elite when the takeover is complete BECAUSE of their "pliability". That doesn't mean they're not fools.
I still miss Phsstpok too!
Yes, of course, it goes without saying that Romney would be an improvement over Obama.
But a Romney presidency would not have meant that any of the major issues confronting the nation would have been solved or even improved.
Nor would Romney been a mortal lock to deliver much if anything to conservatives.
And all of this gets even more pointless when you realize that RINOs like Romney simply don’t win so it’s merely academic that he WOULD HAVE BEEN an improvement over Obama.
And I wasn’t being cynical about the Romneys as being Kennedy-like. I would prefer Jack and Jackie over what we’ve had of late. Short of Ronnie and Nancy (the likes of which we’ll not see again), some manners and grace in the White House (even as it sold out to the Left half the time) would have been a good thing.
Another obscurity is the tax revenue to GDP, its down to 16% because there is less economic activity, not because Democrats need to raise taxes to increase the tax revenue to GDP ratio, Mr Julian(FOX Business Block Guest), thats not how Macroeconomics works, your only advocating tax increases that have been shown to decrease total GDP.
The Romneys are so irrelevant on the political stage right now- they are history. Why the big interview on Fox News Sunday? What is Fox thinking? Mitt Romney’s opinion on anything right now should only be shown in a 2 minute interview on a afternoon weekend show. That’s how irrelevant he is.
Actually the Romneys have never really been relevant imho and the big bucks got them the nomination pure and simple. Mitt has been on every side of every issue. They are champions of no cause. Also, they made many enemies on the way to getting the Republican nod. Bye bye Mitt - I doubt you will be missed by anyone.
Yes, he was slightly less evil than Obama but you can’t win the presidency if that is the only thing you bring to the table.
Did I hear that right that Romney is getting back into the political game???
Does that mean that we can expect to see him again in 2016???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Your whole comment hit the nail on the head. We think they don’t. This is where education comes into play. We aren’t making our kids think critically anymore. I could go on but I’ll stop here. :)
I respectfully disagree.
The Republicans sold Defense down the river twice - in 2011 by approving a $487 Billion cut over ten years (that we are now 2 years into and is causing real reductions), and again by agreeing to allow 17% of the budget (which Defense is) take 50% of the Sequester cuts (even though Defense is Constitutional and Entitlements are not). The Republicans at this point don't care about the military (with the exception of people like McCain, Graham, and McKeon).
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave at what the current crop of Republican leadership are doing to the men and women in uniform of this nation. No group has given as much, and no group has the biggest target on their backs. Military health care, DoD schools, and family support is all going to be cut under the Sequester - not to mention the breaking of faith with hundreds of thousands of loyal, patriotic DoD employees.
Lucky guy!
I’ll be riding as well at about 85 mph up I-95 into cold country.
Romney fits in with Fox snooze just fine. He could be on the All Star panel to explain Conservatism to their viewers.
Pray for America
It isn't complicated...
So McCain and Graham care about the military. How did they vote on cloture (Hagel)?
wow cool, photo taken from the Bay/Gulf side of the bridge, basically looking North to south looking out to the oceansisde.
A month from now it will be a parking lot on the water with everyone trying to cach the frist 200 lb. tarpon.
I agree with you kabar. But the Sequester does nothing to address Entitlement spending, which you and agree is the largest driver of our deficits. Both earned and unearned Entitlement spending must be dealt with.
Food stamp spending alone in 2012 alone is projected to be $85 Billion - more than enough to pay for all of the Sequester cuts in this fiscal year alone.
The current Sequester suicide plan is madness - it does nothing to stop the Entitlement bleeding, it punishes Defense, and it will cause great harm to the economy.
If you chose to go to war - Do it quickly do it overwhelmingly, then go home. 14 years later and Iraq will soon be another Muslim headache. The English, and before then others have failed in Afghanistan. Now it is America's turn to fail. The ramifications will be felt in Pakistan and India.
If all you are interested in is that your man wins, than the country is lost.
Good Morning PB, All...
....thank you AB for doing this thread.
It’s been a horrid morning.
First, husband, last night, gets it in his head that we should turn back clocks. Since I was to sing at the 8:30 mass I was concerned that the clocks be right, alarms correct, yada, yada.
So I changed the time on my clock radio and husband changed all clocks in house.
At 1:30 am in morn, with him still up and watching TV, he knocks on bedroom door to tell me that he was mistaken, that I turned back my clock in error.
So in the mid of deep night I am fooling around with this clock radio, a new one with which I am not all that familiar, but I got it correct with an alarm.
But the alarm never got a chance to go off as the electricity went off at 6:15 in the am.
I normally am up for bathroom morning then a return to bed for another hour or so at this time so I noted the electricity went off....then back on....then back off again.
No electricity.
I sat and pondered.
Well I could hardly go back to sleep by this time as I had to get up to be at church for practice by 8 in the am so I got up but could not do much with no electricity.
I turned on battery powered radio, seems some boobaloob stayed a bit too late with the drink last night and ran into a pole, knocked out electricty for 40,000 people.
I took husband’s car to church as I knew church was on as Lewes still had electricity, only Georgetown was out, all the way down to Merryland almost.
Husband’s car, heh. Little chevrolet Cavalier, 1994, only has 66K miles on it. Whole car covered in mold.
Heh.
Yeah I drove down the road like that and of course some of my choir mates saw me and asked what the hell was I driving.
Anyway, get in pew, only two altos. Dear Lord at practice there were about 8 of us. Seems all the altos come to prctice but not show up to sing.
The other alto, she’s a good egg, but she’s not all that loud. Which means it was all on me.
Only ONE male showed up. Heh. Well he’s a very good singer and he did carry his part. The ALTOS had to sing the male part alot so hey, I ended up singing my heart out, name the part....alto....did that.....tenor....did that....sporano....did that. Bass? Absolutely....did that.
Heh.
So after church I call home, husband says electricity on. I come home, man we had to set all the appliances and somebody got to tell me why on earth we had to re-set and re-program the Kruger coffee maker cause the electricity went out./ What an awful design this is!
Husband had to re-set the clocks AGAIN, this after his mid of night change forward then back again.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, dear Lord I sang to You today with all my heart, all the parts and after no sleep and with no electricity.
Surely I am going to heaven?
anyway, taped Fox News Sunday and Meet the Depressed.
Though Boehner did a terrible job on MTP but I got more thoughts on it.
Just wanted to get in before electricity goes off again or husband decides, once again, to re-set all the clocks.
There has never been an Obama budget. He tried one once and NO ONE, democRat or Republican voted for it. The democRat controlled Senate has never passed a budget proposal since Obama has been in office. The only alternative has been a "Continuing Resolution", to simply stay on the current spending rate since there is no budget to vote on.
It is not appropriate to blame the Republicans for any of this. The Republicans have passed budgets, only to have them die in the Senate. It is up to Obama to propose a budget, one that at least his own Senate will pass. Then there can be a negotiation between the Senate and House versions, and THEN you can include the Republicans in the blame if you don't like the results. In the meantime, the fault lies entirely with Obama and the democRats.
“If you chose to go to war - Do it quickly do it overwhelmingly, then go home. 14 years later and Iraq will soon be another Muslim headache. The English, and before then others have failed in Afghanistan. Now it is America’s turn to fail. The ramifications will be felt in Pakistan and India.”
Pray tell what did Romney have to do with that!?!? If I were president, that war would have been over with long time ago. The country is not winning now is it?
