Yes, of course, it goes without saying that Romney would be an improvement over Obama.

But a Romney presidency would not have meant that any of the major issues confronting the nation would have been solved or even improved.

Nor would Romney been a mortal lock to deliver much if anything to conservatives.

And all of this gets even more pointless when you realize that RINOs like Romney simply don’t win so it’s merely academic that he WOULD HAVE BEEN an improvement over Obama.

And I wasn’t being cynical about the Romneys as being Kennedy-like. I would prefer Jack and Jackie over what we’ve had of late. Short of Ronnie and Nancy (the likes of which we’ll not see again), some manners and grace in the White House (even as it sold out to the Left half the time) would have been a good thing.

Another obscurity is the tax revenue to GDP, it’s down to 16% because there is less economic activity, not because Democrats need to raise taxes to increase the tax revenue to GDP ratio, Mr Julian(FOX Business Block Guest), that’s not how Macroeconomics works, your only advocating tax increases that have been shown to decrease total GDP.

The Romneys are so irrelevant on the political stage right now- they are history. Why the big interview on Fox News Sunday? What is Fox thinking? Mitt Romney’s opinion on anything right now should only be shown in a 2 minute interview on a afternoon weekend show. That’s how irrelevant he is.

Actually the Romneys have never really been relevant imho and the big bucks got them the nomination pure and simple. Mitt has been on every side of every issue. They are champions of no cause. Also, they made many enemies on the way to getting the Republican nod. Bye bye Mitt - I doubt you will be missed by anyone.

Yes, he was slightly less evil than Obama but you can’t win the presidency if that is the only thing you bring to the table.

Did I hear that right that Romney is getting back into the political game???

Does that mean that we can expect to see him again in 2016???

Your whole comment hit the nail on the head. We think they don’t. This is where education comes into play. We aren’t making our kids think critically anymore. I could go on but I’ll stop here. :)

Hahaha,I think they even go beyond all that AB. I also see the drivebys trying to head off any traction Rush and the rest of the New Media might get on the first part of the week by interceding on behalf of their brethren the commie administration.
I see them constantly bringing up issues that we might bring up—why didn't zero compromise with us on the sequestration, whose idea was the sequestration to begin with, will kids really starve,on and on so they can spin the DNC chatting points out of control before Rush has a chance to bring us the truth.

Obama is going to eviscerate the military regardless of what any Republican tries to do about it. He won.

I respectfully disagree.

The Republicans sold Defense down the river twice - in 2011 by approving a $487 Billion cut over ten years (that we are now 2 years into and is causing real reductions), and again by agreeing to allow 17% of the budget (which Defense is) take 50% of the Sequester cuts (even though Defense is Constitutional and Entitlements are not). The Republicans at this point don't care about the military (with the exception of people like McCain, Graham, and McKeon).

Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave at what the current crop of Republican leadership are doing to the men and women in uniform of this nation. No group has given as much, and no group has the biggest target on their backs. Military health care, DoD schools, and family support is all going to be cut under the Sequester - not to mention the breaking of faith with hundreds of thousands of loyal, patriotic DoD employees.

Romney fits in with Fox snooze just fine. He could be on the All Star panel to explain Conservatism to their viewers.

Pray for America

In short, tools like Graham and McCain help the MSM make the bats the Media is going to use the next week to beat Republicans about the head and shoulders.

It isn't complicated...

So McCain and Graham care about the military. How did they vote on cloture (Hagel)?

The welfare state is unsustainable. Kicking the can down the road will not solve our long term problems. We just added a third entitlement program, Obamacare, that will just hasten the bankruptcy of this country.

I agree with you kabar. But the Sequester does nothing to address Entitlement spending, which you and agree is the largest driver of our deficits. Both earned and unearned Entitlement spending must be dealt with.

Food stamp spending alone in 2012 alone is projected to be $85 Billion - more than enough to pay for all of the Sequester cuts in this fiscal year alone.

The current Sequester suicide plan is madness - it does nothing to stop the Entitlement bleeding, it punishes Defense, and it will cause great harm to the economy.

Great post MTNWMN. We would all have preferred other candidates that we did not get. So we voted for a 60% candidate instead of a -20% canididate who was a communist. Not a tough pick at all.

Your misguided reliance on romney is just that. For reference you can look at the two bushes - More G’ment all the time.

If you chose to go to war - Do it quickly do it overwhelmingly, then go home. 14 years later and Iraq will soon be another Muslim headache. The English, and before then others have failed in Afghanistan. Now it is America's turn to fail. The ramifications will be felt in Pakistan and India.

If all you are interested in is that your man wins, than the country is lost.

Boehner needs to be the one who manages cost, being no one else will. He’s already helped diminish private sector opportunities by going along with the Democrat’s tax increase.

As long as the House GOP stands together, the GOP has the ultimate in bargaining power in three of the most critical areas:

1) Since the RATS refuse to pass a budget - or even debate one - the GOP House holds ALL the cards in passing Continuing Resolutions year after year,

2) The House holds all the cards in raising the Debt Ceiling, notwithstanding the RAT huff and puff about the Constitution requiring clown to pay USA debt, and

3) Sequestration - first time they stood firm since retaking the House in 2010.

Boner has minimal negotiation skills (I was a fairly good one with Government contracts, and Trump certainly qualifies as one). Further Boner and his party are absolute losers when it comes to getting the message out, and they are up against the masters of messaging (it helps to have your own propaganda machine working for you 24/7). I don't think the GOP knows what the party stands for anymore - ranting about going after women, black, and hispanics. SELL CONSERVATISM!! Ronald Reagan was able to get the message out with the same left media clobbering him, in fact I would argue Reagan was more disadvantaged then in 2013 since there was no alternative media. Only three TV networks.

Get a clue Republicans - this is the first good thing you did fiscally,

What ever happened to the strategy the GOP once upon a time floated about DEFUNDING Obamacare? They are in control of the APPROPRIATIONS. The Republicans seem to make promises just like the RAT party and do not follow through. The problem is career politicians do not work for "WE THE PEOPLE".

Good Morning PB, All...

....thank you AB for doing this thread.

It’s been a horrid morning.

First, husband, last night, gets it in his head that we should turn back clocks. Since I was to sing at the 8:30 mass I was concerned that the clocks be right, alarms correct, yada, yada.

So I changed the time on my clock radio and husband changed all clocks in house.

At 1:30 am in morn, with him still up and watching TV, he knocks on bedroom door to tell me that he was mistaken, that I turned back my clock in error.

So in the mid of deep night I am fooling around with this clock radio, a new one with which I am not all that familiar, but I got it correct with an alarm.

But the alarm never got a chance to go off as the electricity went off at 6:15 in the am.

I normally am up for bathroom morning then a return to bed for another hour or so at this time so I noted the electricity went off....then back on....then back off again.

No electricity.

I sat and pondered.

Well I could hardly go back to sleep by this time as I had to get up to be at church for practice by 8 in the am so I got up but could not do much with no electricity.

I turned on battery powered radio, seems some boobaloob stayed a bit too late with the drink last night and ran into a pole, knocked out electricty for 40,000 people.

I took husband’s car to church as I knew church was on as Lewes still had electricity, only Georgetown was out, all the way down to Merryland almost.

Husband’s car, heh. Little chevrolet Cavalier, 1994, only has 66K miles on it. Whole car covered in mold.

Heh.

Yeah I drove down the road like that and of course some of my choir mates saw me and asked what the hell was I driving.

Anyway, get in pew, only two altos. Dear Lord at practice there were about 8 of us. Seems all the altos come to prctice but not show up to sing.

The other alto, she’s a good egg, but she’s not all that loud. Which means it was all on me.

Only ONE male showed up. Heh. Well he’s a very good singer and he did carry his part. The ALTOS had to sing the male part alot so hey, I ended up singing my heart out, name the part....alto....did that.....tenor....did that....sporano....did that. Bass? Absolutely....did that.

Heh.

So after church I call home, husband says electricity on. I come home, man we had to set all the appliances and somebody got to tell me why on earth we had to re-set and re-program the Kruger coffee maker cause the electricity went out./ What an awful design this is!

Husband had to re-set the clocks AGAIN, this after his mid of night change forward then back again.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, dear Lord I sang to You today with all my heart, all the parts and after no sleep and with no electricity.

Surely I am going to heaven?

anyway, taped Fox News Sunday and Meet the Depressed.

Though Boehner did a terrible job on MTP but I got more thoughts on it.

Just wanted to get in before electricity goes off again or husband decides, once again, to re-set all the clocks.

"Aren’t they complicit in approving the approps...budget or no?"

There has never been an Obama budget. He tried one once and NO ONE, democRat or Republican voted for it. The democRat controlled Senate has never passed a budget proposal since Obama has been in office. The only alternative has been a "Continuing Resolution", to simply stay on the current spending rate since there is no budget to vote on.

It is not appropriate to blame the Republicans for any of this. The Republicans have passed budgets, only to have them die in the Senate. It is up to Obama to propose a budget, one that at least his own Senate will pass. Then there can be a negotiation between the Senate and House versions, and THEN you can include the Republicans in the blame if you don't like the results. In the meantime, the fault lies entirely with Obama and the democRats.

Pray tell what did Romney have to do with that!?!? If I were president, that war would have been over with long time ago. The country is not winning now is it?
