Uhhh... we don't eat them. They are a game fish. I'll tell you how revered they are. A friend of mine caught one about 175 lbs. Curoiously at the 7 Mile Bridge! The fish expended so much lactic acid during the fight he was going to be bait for a nearby 300 lb. bull shark. My friend pulled him into the boat put him on the bow and drove two miles away to safety. He then spent 20 mintues bringing the fish back to life by pulling him slowly throught the water lettingthe gills fillwith water with the boat in gear. Fish swam away in good shape. Thats tarpon fishing down where.

Yeah. I'm aware of all that.

It is not appropriate to blame the Republicans for any of this...In the meantime, the fault lies entirely with Obama and the democRats.

I think not!

Explain to me exactly how all those gianormous CRs made it through the GOP House. Did they have 234 guns held to their heads?

Use as much paper as you need.

Just wanted to get in before electricity goes off again or husband decides, once again, to re-set all the clocks.

I thought you set the clocks on March 10th.

I agree with you kabar. But the Sequester does nothing to address Entitlement spending, which you and agree is the largest driver of our deficits. Both earned and unearned Entitlement spending must be dealt with.

Simpson-Bowles did nothing to address health care spending. It was the reason that Ryan did not sign off on it.

Yes, entitlement spending must be dealt with. It is the biggest driver of our debt and it is on automatic pilot. I won't make the distinction between earned and unearned entitlement programs. They are both wealth redistribution schemes that we can't afford. You must either cut benefits or raise taxes or some combination thereof to make them sustainable.

The current Sequester suicide plan is madness - it does nothing to stop the Entitlement bleeding, it punishes Defense, and it will cause great harm to the economy.

It will no doubt harm defense, but I am upset with how politicized the military has become in this political fight. The idea that we can't deploy a carrier because of sequestration is nonsense. And I have no doubt that defense will be cut further as we get involved in the "Guns versus butter" battle that characterizes nations in decline.

I think the impact of sequestration is overblown. If reducing government spending by what amounts to a rounding error is so painful, how can we really make the spending reductions we need? We spend $10 billion a day (and borrow $4 billion of that) so sequestration is less than nine days of spending. There is no painless way out of our problem and the longer we delay confronting it, the more painful the solution will be. Sequestration is not madness. The status quo is madness as we run trillion dollar annual deficits.

What would Sunday mornings be without the obligatory appearences of Linsey Graham and John McCain? Neither one has had an interesting thing to say in twenty years.

Last week a pollster called me (I live in Sc) and asked me to rate a # of SC politicians as favorable or unfavorable. I rated all favorable until he got to Lindsay who I said Unfavorable. At that point he said "thank you for your time" and hung up. Who do you suppose was conducting this survey?

Welp, I agree with every word you wrote.

But Kabar, I fully understand that Medicare and SS are drains on this country, not operating in the black like planned.

Those of us who got up every morning and went to work, we didn’t know where our money went, it was just deducted from our paycheck and that was the law.

I also understand that all those silly grants and pork barrell things are pennies compared to the enormity of entitlement spending. I am pretty sure the Republicans know this and want desperately to fix it.

BUT they too are part of the problem.

Cause while many of us would stand up and say hey, give me a couple hundred less every month, I am a loyal American, I’m okay with it.....FIRST we want to see the waste in gubmint dealt with.

I predicted to husband, as he busily changed clocks either forward, backward or wherever he was going, that over the next month we will hear stories of gubmint silliness bejeesus.

Already there’s a web site that managed, via compilation of absurd gubmint spending programs, to get all the money needed by the sequester!

Stupid things like watching squirrels mate or setting teddy bears on fire....I dunno....we’ve all heard of it.

But that’s just the really apparent! I’m willing to bet that there are thousands, if not millions, of employees on gubmint payrolls that no longer word there! I’m willing to bet that if somehow some impartial audit firm could get in on what’s going on....man, come on, we all know it goes on.

Then let’s look into those crazy awards....like the so-called “black farmers” nonsense.

My mind boggles.

This is something the citizenry expects before they go after the entitlements.

All those journalists so mad at the bully White House could blow this apart.

We all have to tighten our belts and this insane rule of the Democrats that gubmint spending must NOT be reduced is nuts.

But entitlements?

Gotta do a lot of other fiscal housekeeping first.

The politicos....Rep or Dem....they don’t want this. That pork barrell and study of mating squirrels is often cycled round right back into their campaigns.

Bigger problem...we got an entrenched political class. They are protecting their own.

Folks like us.....pat on head and tell to go away.

The largest class of welfare recipients are government “workers”. They are RAT union thugs at every level of government.

That’s why you can safely say the union runs the country. (and the executive branch “workers” are overwhelmingly RAT)

A little off topic but I will tell you the BEST way to steal from a company. Take it from me, a payroll veteran of many years.

PHANTOM EMPLOYEES!!!

Every job I went to I caught them.

First payroll job I worked at, the very first, after a well-deserved promotion, I caught a woman been on the payroll...on jury duty....every day for a YEAR AND A HALF!

First thing, I call down to supervisor...”Well she turned in her jury slip to Joe Blow so I guess it’s okay,” he told me. Man, by this point I’m thinking Baltimore city has to reimburse us cause we can’t afford employees on jury duty for over a year, go to hell.

So turns out the lady was in some kind of jury list that MIGHT be called to serve. She actually only served on a jury for two days.

She got to keep the money cause the union said companyt should have explained that she must go to WORK when not called to serve on jury.

In a way, they’re right.

I got a hunch there’s thousands of phantom gubmint employees, it’s in my bones I know it. This is kind of an easy thing to do. The jury duty lady was a company error but oh I’ve found many a phantom employee, set up intentionally, in my day.

So here’s my offer....Go ahead aHehnd reduce my entitlement siuch as it is....but first...I want an audit of gubmint agencies by a respected accounting firm with results publicized and public hearings on same.

How’s about the repubs get out and about and offer this?

Heh,.

Never happen. We’re mired in a vast wasteland of muckity muck overseen by the ruling elite.

Bums me out.

"Explain to me exactly how all those gianormous CRs made it through the GOP House. Did they have 234 guns held to their heads?"

Indeed, they did have "guns" pointed at their heads. Their choice was simple: pass the resolution, or shut down government forever. Had they shut down the government, the "guns" were every single media outlet in the US blaming them for starving children, shutting down the military, eliminating Social Security payments, and all other evil that could occur. It happened during the Clinton reign, and they haven't forgotten it. There is no way that anything but a continuing resolution would pass, and no way that failure of anything to pass would be total blame on them and them only.

The unfortunate reality is that Obama is President, Reid controlls the Senate, and the mainstream media is on their side. Wishful thinking will not change that.

There's a lot of people who used to work at Andersen still looking to get back into the game. And since they had actual experience with Enron itself, that makes them most qualified to deal with our federal government.

Talk about creating jobs!

Man, a citizen audit of the federal gubmint would put millions to work!

Somebody tell the pubs.

Put me in charge of looking over one agency, heh, say....state department....come on.....come on guys.....

You got to know we’d find so much my head spins.

Don’t blame it on Obama. He’s doing what he was re-elected to do.

Blame it on the political class.

Another look at the right hand not at the left.

As has been said before, Watch what they do, not what they say.

The hundreds of lies spewed by nobama this past week about how draconian the Sequester was going to be are a fine example.

Speaking of example: U.S. Capitol official: Obama wrong on janitors' pay cut. [He just flat-assed lied about this.]

I’ve got a project for you.

Find me a single solitary time over the past eight years that The 0 has told the truth about ANYTHING.

(I’d say the same about any other ‘rat and most of our political establishment, but that could take up a few lifetimes.)

As bad as Boehner has been I think the bigger problem is in the GOP Senate. McConnell is just a dead fish. He has made no attempt to tie the kenyan to the Democratic majority senate. Barely any fire directed at Reid for his shenanigans, etc, etc. No fight in McConnell. He is useless compared to how Reid was when he was minority leader.

The GOP will continue to lose if the leadership does not push back against the marxist attacks. Merely standing up and asking for another is not good enough.
