A license plate gives police a whole lot of information about you, and law enforcement is supposed to protect those details. However, one local sheriff admits he gave a driver's name and address away, and the reason he did it is downright bizarre.

I used to buy a cup of coffee at McD if I needed to use the bathroom.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
My ‘work’ is on the road and when I have to go, I have to go.
A few minutes one way or the other can lead to ‘disaster’.
I would stop at a gas station, do what I had to do and buy a large coffee.
Used to muse that it was like a vicious cycle, buy coffee, have to stop and use head + buy coffee, have to stop and use head etc etc etc X however far the journey may be....

I remember stopping in the middle of the night and there was a line...I was behind 2 teenagers who were next and was contemplating going to the next facility when one of the kids looked at me, turned to his buddy and said
“Lets go — this man looks like my grandfather does just before having an accident”...they left and I ‘thanked’ them (by the way, 2 Black lads and I am neither Black nor a (young) lad...)

McDonalds and nice hotels are my picks for clean public restrooms.

I’d figure if I looked over their shelves real good to see if there’s something I might want to get, I’ve “shopped” them well enough.

When on the road and the urge gets me. I always buy something, be it a coke or whatever. It costs the business to maintain the restrooms.

At most she may have commited some kind of theft of service.

Check back in 6 months, after this I’m going out on a limb to say that the Flood Zone will no longer be in business.

“I may not buy anything on that particular instance, but I have done business with them before and will do business with them again. “

Right! I’m just depositing the Big Mac and coffee from my last McDonalds stop.

I remember when I was a teenager and you always had to put a coin in the slot in order to open the door to the stall. Wasn’t much but did help pay for the maintenance of the bathrooms. We kids never had any money back then - and as older adults now find ourselves in the same position - so we’d just crawl under the door.

I don't see a problem with what the lady did. But I do get a bit annoyed by the homeless people off the street who tie up a rest room for long periods of time to take bird baths and do all sorts of other things that prevent customers from using the facility.

If a business has a clearly displayed policy that their restrooms are for customers only your comment would have some credence. There was a time when "service" stations used to lock their restrooms in order to keep them maintained and folks had to ask for a key to gain access. Those don't exist much more and rest stops are few and far between.

Seriously, you feel guilty if you pee in a public washroom without having to fork over money for something you don’t really need? I visit Mcdonald’s drive thru a couple times a week and if I ever have to go in to use the washroom because I’m far away from home, and I don’t “buy” anything on that particular visit then Oh well! BTW the workers maintain the bathroom as a regular duty, whether 10 people use it or 100.

When one is driving along the road and decides one needs to pull over to heed the call of nature to relieve oneself, they are to be called “Dishonest and rude” Hmm

How are they being dishonest exactly? And why is it rude to take advantage of a “public” restroom?

I normally use the restroom or at least look at it before eating is a new restaurant. If the restroom is filthy, I won’t eat there. Perhaps this McD’s simply failed standards.

One del Taco I’m at ocasionally, in Ventura Co CA, has outside entrance to bathrooms. One has to get a token from an employee to insert in the locking mechanism.

Have no idea if people just ask for token without buying anything.
I like the crisp tacos, and tea, so I am a buying customer/bathroom user.

Why is this on a Boston TV station, and who the Hell even knew that WHDH was still on the air? The strangest aspect of this whole story is the WHDH angle.

Could you please provide the Penal Code section that you thought had been violated? ...Actually, ‘Theft of Services’ if you REEEAAALLYYY want to push the envelope. But, since no report of such was made, the Sheriff was wrong.

In 2010 I stopped on Alligator Alley in FL to take a midnight pee. As I began I saw something about four feet away I thought was a retread tire blow out. It moved and I didn’t whiz for a week.
