And there it is: The ultimate panic-inducing cherry on top of the sequester-scaremongering sundae. Apart from the devastating, eviscerating, meat-cleaving threats of flight delays, park closures, and whooping cough, the existential threat that is the dreaded sequesteration is going to make it much more difficult for the Department of Homeland Security to perform one of its primary functions: Thwarting terrorism. Via WaPo:
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned Monday that her agency would be forced to furlough 5,000 border control agents under mandatory spending cuts, likely allowing more illegal immigrants into the country and potentially compromising national security.
Napolitano said the cuts, known as the sequester, would disrupt the Department of Homeland Security’s ability to conduct customs inspections at ports, leading to increased waiting times for travelers and cargo shipments. Disaster relief funding would be reduced by $1 billion, she added, meaning relief for victims of natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy and tornados in Joplin, Mo., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., could be cut. …
Asked if the cuts would make the country more susceptible to acts of terrorism, Napolitano said: “It’s always a threat. We do what we can to minimize the risk, but the sequester makes it awfully, awfully tough.”
Since this $85 Billion seems to be the only thing keeping this country running, that other $3.6 Trillion Obama spends every year must be all pork
My thoughts exactly. So we only need 85 billion to run the country according to BO. Why do we have a deficit problem ? Oh yeah, BO and the Mooch and their entourage of hanger oners and the papparazi news media need their lavish vacations.
How about furloughing Secretary Janet Napolitano and about 75% of her department. The ONLY part we should keep is border security. And beef that up.

I’ve got a suggestion for you, Madame Secretary: take one for the team. If you are worried that your Department won’t have enough money for the agents in the field, voluntarily turn back your own salary and use the money to pay them.

If Sequestration results in “cuts”, how would we recognize your pre-Sequestration activities in enforcing the law with its post-Sequestration version? Hint: there isn't any.

Why can’t we do that? They are ALL our employees, serving at our pleasure, reaping our dollars.
Otherwise, I might have some concern, especially in places like ElPaso and other semi-dangerous areas that I had thought to be unsafe but thanks to Napolitano's assurances, I'm feeling pretty good, even with her Sequister threats.
It's getting hysterically funny with all of the Obama folk (MSM as well) making as many scarey threats over as many areas as they are being forced to do!
I accidentally caught a snippet of Fox News where the Sec. of the Navy was trying as much as possible to sound like "the sky is falling, really, really this time" earlier today. His eyes were open as wide as Nancy Pelosi's, and not for the same reason.
I just muted the TV and watched as he tried sounding like the Martians were landing and we couldn't do a thing to stop them, without Republicans caving on the Sequister!
I'm almost convinced that on Saturday, if Republicans don't cave, and that looks more and more likely with each passing hour, I'll be forced to drink contaminated water, eat spoiled food, have no medicine available, cops unavailable to stop criminals, every Mexican Drug Lord, or roofer looking for work, walking across our Southern border, houses burning to the ground without firefighters to fight fires, children hanging out at the malls because schools are closed, the elderly who don't know who they are, set out on curbs because retirement homes are closed, dogs and cats running lose everywhere as animal shelters are forced to close, parents being forced to feed and care for their own children as daycare centers close, and airplanes that do take off, dropping out of the skies because their are no air traffic controllers to guide them safely to their landing strips.
These threats are so bad, they make global warming alarms sound tame!

It might also open some eyes that maybe, just maybe, we don't need as many government employees as they think we do. Let those in government get a little of the same feelings we in the real world have about hours and salary cuts that have been a fact of life since the Mussiah took office,

Not one thin dime is going to be "cut" from the budgets of any federal agencies or departments by this.
If a federal department was scheduled for a $1,000,000 increase in their budget for next year, they're going to receive a $980,000 budget increase instead.
The big bad Sequester isn't cutting a single nickel from their existing budgets! The doomsday scenario Obama's painting, is one of the biggest lies he's ever told.
