Anybody else notice that there has been NO handwringing, NO plaintive wailing from the MSM this time on >$4 gas?
I still had cable back when Bush was president. The local newscasts used to lead their nightly broadcasts with reporters standing at gas stations, showing the price per gallon and interviewing the poor motorists.
Since 2009 those stories are in the same filing cabinet with stories about the homeless.

Its just market forces, so just shut up and pay the market price if you want to get between point A and B. Market forces influenced by government regulations and enviro-fascist lawsuits which make refining gasoline an expensive endeavor. I see no specific conspiracy to raise gas prices but I do see policy level decisions that conspire to raise prices. Further, when gas was close to $4 bucks a gallon during the booming Bush years I had to listen to "pain at the pump" stories every night on the local news.

Nonsense. The gas price at my local station in PG County MD January 26 was $3.24.9/gal. Yesterday is was $3.89.9. that works out to $0.65 in less than four weeks.

Here’s all I did to boost my mpg (helps boost power too)
K&N air filter (they guar a couple mpg)
Insulated air intake (outside air is cooler than under-hood air, thus denser with O2)
Low restriction exhaust
50psi low profile tires
Mobil 1 oil
Strut tower bar increases handling
Manual trans (+10%)
Leave backseats out
Believe it or not, this PT Cruiser can burn the tires off. And handles very well. Gets 32mpg on highway and high 20s around town. Exceptional for a PT Cruiser. And very fun to drive.

The K&N extracts a price in increased engine wear due to more particulates getting past the filter.

That d... Bush....he’s been out of office for more than four years, and he’s still manipulating the gas prices for his oil buddies. It’s an outrage. (snicker)
To: george76
So what's their excuse this time around for high gas prices ? what ? the oil market is under a shortage so therefore the high demand reflects the realities of the high prices ?
Yeah we have heard that one before however the USA at this current time is starting to emerge as a net world oil exporter.
Something really fishy with the smell of bull dung is going on.

Leave rear seats out ( front passenger seat if not needed 50 pounds right there ), carpet, door panels, back window deck, inner plastic fender well rain guards , hood sound insulator, trunk carpet, head liner.
That could reduce at least 100 pound right there alone.
To: bicyclerepair
What I don't understand is why they don't make plastic hoods or truck lids for cars, unless they do that already.
I know they make plastic fenders for cars.
One thing that some people can do is reduce the weight of the engine by trying to see if their engine can be retro fitted with aluminium cylinder heads.
That there alone can reduce at least 50 to 75 pounds of weight.

A front end alignment also helps in fuel economy because if the wheels are out of alignment there is friction from the tires.
To: American Constitutionalist
I remember in 2005, when gas prices were spiking, all my Lib/Prog neighbors were spouting that tired, old MSM-fed drivel about GWB intentionally keeping fuel prices high “to enrich his oil buddies.” Now, just eight years later, these same retard neighbors are absolutely convinced that a US president’s policies can have *no* influence whatsoever on the price of “global commodities.”
I swear these people are robots whose minds can be erased and reprogrammed at will. They don’t even remember claiming GWB manipulated fuel prices!!!

Yup and that's why it's a waste of time trying to argue with these people.
I also noticed that those people who voted for Obie have the same arrogance collectively.
Same selfcenterness, same know it all attitudes, same " I am more superior than you " attitude, same " I can do no wrong " attitudes.

Josh Elliot said two weeks after the climb began that “we have just learned that gas prices have skyrocketed.”
When you live in a multimillion dollar apartment in Manhattan and are ferried around by a limousine, how would you have a clue about the price of gas unless your chauffeur decided to mention it to you? The elites living in big metropolitan areas don’t fill up their cars and many of them don’t own cars.

But remember, gas is a lot higher in Europe. sarcasm?
The liberal idiots who voted for obama will pay $100 to fill their tanks then say “It only cost $50 to fill my tank today.” They simply refuse to see what’s right in front of them.
And when their “nana” is refused treatment and allowed to die they’ll actually join the chorus and say “She had a good life.” And when they themselves reach 70 they’ll die with a dumb look on their face.

Market price? It would help if we had a President who didn’t consider himself King and keep the Keystone pipeline from being built. BUILD IT ANYWAY, DAMNIT!
To: george76
Any time someone bitches to you about gas prices, just put on your best deadpan and reply,
"Well ya know, we're never gonna see gas prices go down until we get Bush and his oil bidness cronies out of the White House".
Never fails to either piss em off or get a rueful laugh.
