Investigators recover Lanza computer data

NEWTOWN -- Investigators have succeeded in recovering some data from one of the damaged hard drives in a computer used by Adam Lanza and have subpoenaed computers of people they believe were in contact with the Sandy Hook mass murderer, a law enforcement source said Friday.

Another smashed hard drive is still being reconstructed by technicians with the U.S. Department of Defense, the source said.

Authorities are particularly interested in what relationships Lanza had within the online and video game community, hoping there may be clues about what provoked him to shoot his mother to death, then kill 20 first-graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School on the morning of Dec. 14.

Earlier in their investigation, State Police found a trove of violent gaming material at the Newtown home Lanza shared with his mother, Nancy.

Lanza attempted to destroy the computer hard drives either on the day of the shootings or shortly earlier.

Investigators also have concluded that Adam Lanza's mother did not restrict his access to the Bushmaster rifle and three other guns he took to Sandy Hook school to embark on his killing spree, according to another law enforcement source familiar with the investigation.

Nancy Lanza "had the means to secure the weapons" inside the Yogananda Street home she shared with her 20-year-old son, but the security measures she employed didn't include keeping them away from Adam, the source said. Nancy Lanza and her son had frequently used area firing ranges.

He is a pathetic excuse for a father as are the other fathers of the other angry young men who killed people.

Sounds like you are blaming everyone else, including God, but not Adam Lanza.

Sure there were options. With money - she had options that many don’t who have children with problems.

She could have hired round the clock care with that kind of money.

She could have him put away.

She could have done more to protect those guns.

If you have a child and you live in fear - and many do who have autistic children, etc. then don’t give them access to guns!!!!

People have to hid utensils from autistic children. Take knobs of stoves.

Giving him free access to guns when she knew he had severe problems - IS NUTS

What provoked him? Or what inspired him?

During this period, friends and family members said, Nancy Lanza disclosed little about her struggles with Adam. But on one recent occasion, she confided in Rich Collins, another friend in Newtown and father of a boy with autism. Something was bothering her, she told Collins.

“He was very sensitive to touch and didn’t want to be touched,” Collins said of Adam. “That used to hurt her. She would get upset about that.”

Asked about the Asperger’s experience, the person close to Peter Lanza said Adam’s father found it challenging.

“Earlier in 2012, Nancy Lanza had once again begun to talk with friends and family members about a big change: moving to Washington state or North Carolina so Adam could once again attend college and pursue a degree in history.

To friends and family, Nancy was again looking for the right educational fit for her now adult son — even if it meant leaving New England, where she had lived her entire life.

One family member believes Nancy would not have planned such a move without Adam behind it.”

God keeps on not helping or not giving these kooky boys an epiphany

Don't blame God. It's not His fault He's a figment of human imagination.

People who want to blame the mother fail to realize that this kid was 20 years old — an adult who couldn’t be pushed around physically or legally or otherwise.

He was old enough to refuse to go to the doctor or take his medication or to be committed for psychiatric care.

And what is her recourse??? kick him out of the house to facilitate his meltdown??? have him arrested for a crime that he has not committed yet???

She had few choices other than doing what she was doing, and who would have guessed that he would go crazy like this.

“put him away” This isn’t the 1800’s and besides, put him away where? There isn’t a place. What do you think would have happened while she was attempting for months or years to request the probate court to commit him? Huh? You don’t know what you are suggesting.

What kind of “round the clock help” a cook, a maid an armed security guard?

get real.

Considering the well known “accuracy” of media reports, especially in this case, I dont think we really know anything about how the guns were stored, lanza’s relationships with his family, or what meds he was on. There are so many conflicting reports that all this is speculation.

“Guns were locked up. Crazy guy was left home alone with the secured weapons for 3 days. He broke into the safe and got the guns.”

What is the source of this information?

Earlier in their investigation, State Police found a trove of violent gaming material at the Newtown home Lanza shared with his mother, Nancy.

Here we have the nexus to part of his madness.

I know an ER psychiatrist who when a parent brings a teenager into the Emergency Room with complaints that he is suicidal or homicidal always asks the kid if he plays war or other such violent video games.

The child ALWAYS says yes.

Then he asks how many people he killed today. The kid gives usually a number in the 100s and the parents are shocked.

We now have soldiers receiving treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who are flying the drones and killing people. These are adult men who are trained to kill from a chair and a video screen.

So when you allow a child or teen, to sit in their room, for hours, playing games where all they are doing is killing, and these games look real, it's not a leap to think that they will go real-life. We have a whole generation of kids with PTSD and it's only going to get worse.

“In closing, let me tell you in all honesty that if you are religious, I consider you mentally ill. Arguing with you nuts is like arguing with someone who thinks they are Napoleon.”

Never mind my question. I consider arguing with atheists a big waste of my time. You and I will know the truth when the time comes.
