On Wednesday's The Situation Room, host Wolf Blitzer absurdly wondered if Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) pausing his State of the Union response for a drink of water would "break" his career. The CNN chyron flashed "Career-ender?"
"So can a drink of water make or break a political career?" Blitzer asked. "A U.S. Senator, possible presidential candidate. We're going to find out, whether he likes it or not."
However, despite CNN claiming the headline was a joke, host Wolf Blitzer kept his serious demeanor for the beginning of the next segment when he noted the "social media frenzy" over Rubio's "awkward pause." The headline was certainly a tease though, as correspondent Kate Bolduan focused her report on Rubio's Florida background.
You know, they hate liberal lukewarm RINOs more than the hate anyone. The GOP is a crowd of doofuses and this was a dooofus moment.
They have no footing - including Rubio and definitely including Rubio.
If the GOP hasn’t figured out tha twith their RINOs they can’t get over a moment like this then why are they in charge of the only opposition?
It’s their fault all of this is happening.
Rubio stands for nothing conservative yet he’s the favorite? Who is he? He has no debate skills. He can talk talk talk, so what?
He taped the SOTU response just before going on. Why did he so it twice, wearing himself out to the point he couldn’t even be properly prepared? What was more important than being prepared for the SOTU rebuttal?
That he tape it in SPANISH first.
He is a first class panderer and he is our favorite. Favorite what? Replacement for McCain?
Is there any way we can get serious?
Okay, perhaps it was a bit awkward; a glass of water at close hand would have been more polished—but the lights must have been hot,etc.
I liked him and I really wonder about people stuck on taking a sip of water rather than the substance of what he said. Priorities!!!

LOL! Exactly what I was thinking. And the more the chattering classes are on his case for taking a sip of water during an important situation with hot t.v. lights on him, I think that most Americans will be on his side.

A desperate attempt to distract attention from what he said, nothing more or less. Typical progessive tactic.
