Miami Judge Smacks Down Teen After She Gave Him The Finger In Court

A Miami teen's bad attitude got her 30 days behind bars after the judge decided he wasn't going to put up with it.
Penelope Soto, 18, was in Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat's bond court Monday on charges of possessing Xanax, Local 10 reported Monday.
Rodriguez-Chomat was prepared to let her off on a $5,000 bond when the giggling girl made the mistake of sarcastically saying "Adios" before flitting away from the bench, NBC Miami reported Tuesday.
But the judge wasn't having her sarcastic attitude and upped her bail to $10,000.
"Are you serious?" Soto asked, to which Rodriguez-Chomat replied that he was, adding "Adios."
"[Expletive] you," Soto said, raising her middle finger as she walked out of court, according to NBC Miami.
Rodriguez-Chomat then called the girl back again, charged her with contempt of court, and sentenced her to 30 days behind bars.

LOL! It’s one of those things you wish you could have seen! I like the photo...I can just hear the offended little princess squealing in horror at being held accountable for her behavior!
I seriously think that one of the reasons a lot of teenagers get into trouble like this is that they honestly don’t take their actions or anybody else’s very seriously. It’s all a game, and they’ve never been made to consider the consequences of their actions.
Easy. One of my coworkers was hyphenated. His mother never changed her name when she married, so when the kids came along they were given both names.

One of the tidbits of knowledge my father left me was that there are two types of people one should not argue with or insult as it does no good and can lead to much bad. A cop and a judge.
I didn’t think the judge’s accent was particularly heavy, however, I have watched many episodes of “I Love Lucy” in my life. This judge’s accent reminds me of Ricky Ricardo.
With that mouth, bet she could suck a golf ball thru a garden hose. Just sayin.
Taking the maternal and paternal name is quite common in latin culture.
How exactly they move that along to the next generation I’m not sure. I think the maternal name is dropped, but I’m not certain.
It’s his court room. She was taking it as a joke and looked high. She could not answer the question about her jewelry. He may have thought by saying Adios was being disrespectful and very well could have been. She was playing him. He knew it and she knew it. Her poor little me little girl act backfired. Her tactic of being hispanic and the judge being hispanic did not work. Good lesson for her to learn responsibility and being a mature adult instead of a manipulative brat.
A piece of advice. Judges don’t like that. They want the facts.
Good news, for a change!
Actions have consequences and this young lady has found that out.
