About Obama's "skeet shooting" photo..
UK Daily Mail ^

Posted on 02/05/2013 8:45:22 PM PST by eastexsteve

I really couldn't care less if Obama shot skeet or not. The photo released by the White House shows that this is probably the first time this man has ever fired a shotgun, much less shot a round of skeet. However, it does show something blatantly obvious - he doesn't appear to be standing at a shooting station at the Camp David skeet range. Below is a photo from the UK Daily Mail of the Camp David skeet range. See any differences?

Not unusual on the range. A trap gun sould have a choke and is sometimes ported for ‘delicate’ shooters. Especially in .28 guage.

But, unusual for a double barrel skeet gun to only have one choke installed.

“He is at the number eight position and the camera is slightly behind that position.”

If he is at station 8, then he will miss by a mile with his barrel at that angle. Both the high and low clays will come almost directly overhead.

I still say he is standing in someone’s backyard. True, the photo is just another distraction. I’m just amused at his constant pathological lying.

In skeet there can also be a running clay on the ground often called a ‘rabbit’. I’m ok on trap but prefer skeet closer to hunting season to get me back in semi shape - but long and short is some skeet sets have low runners.

It might be shopped, but they would have been smart enough to make it authentic. He is at the number eight position and the camera is slightly behind that position. So the view is of a background that is in front of the towers and fence.

There is a curve in the nearside of the road behind him that doesn't match the Camp David layout from that position

Closest I can work out is somewhere on the grass inside the hockeystick curve of the road with the photographer nearer and to the left. (Probably to catch the right position of late afternoon light)

You’re thinking of sporting clays - not skeet. Skeet targets are launched from either a high or low house on the same line - though the air - every time.

You might be referring to generic sporting clays in general. But, in tournament skeet on a tournament skeet range, there are no “rabbits” or “low runners.” There is one “low house” that throws them at a climbing angle, and one “high house” that throws them straight out.

You nailed it my friend! Ring up another one for Free Republic! He’s shooting at nothing...standing midfield on the grass! It’s a photo op with one shell in his Citori shotgun.

The porting seems to be further back on the barrel than I have seen before. It also looks like the port exhaust a bit to the right of the barrel.

Does anyone else find this a bit unusual?

It would be more unusual to put them where they would be blocked by the choke cylinders (not to mention counter productive)

As others have indicated in trap shooting you start in the “aim”
position with the barrel held just over the roof of the bunker (aka
trap house) which may be sunk partly into the ground. I assume
in skeet shooting the shotgun is held in similar fashion prior to
release of the clay.

My question is what does the photo have to do w/Obamnuts?
Let me guess.....JFK shoots skeet in the early 1960s therefore
Obama shoots skeet in 2013. I don’t even see Barry unless he is
back to wearing Michelle’s pink coat shades again. Nice wig.

Note that The New York Times article has a correction at the bottom of the page, because it originally said that you were shooting a rifle in the picture — a mistake quickly repeated by dozens of other media outlets. Many of these same media outlets have been quick to editorialize about which guns Americans should and should not be allowed to own, when apparently they wouldn’t know a rifle or a shotgun from a barn door. Go figure.

Thoughtful reply stranger. Thanks.

Thanks for saying what I was thinking. The sign in the tree to his left would also be a clue.
