NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Violent, thieving mobs have been making headlines across the country for the past few years, and now they have hit New York City.
And Maurice Dubois reported in this CBS 2 investigation, the teen mobs have left neighborhoods worried as businesses take matters into their own hands.
Judson Bennett, 78, recently ran into a violent group of teens – often described with the once-benign term “flash mob” – as he made his daily trip to buy a newspaper at his favorite news team.
“I’m approaching the newsstand, and then suddenly there is a tremendous force behind me,” Bennett said.
Bennett ended up with a broken arm.
“I was taken completely by surprise,” he said.
In New York and across the country, the mobs of kids – 20, 30, 40 or more — appear out of nowhere and suddenly charge a newsstand or convenience store.
They ransack, steal and wreak havoc with no consideration for customers, such as Bennett, who get in their way.
“They assemble, they do whatever it is that they’re going to do, and then they disassemble in a matter of minutes,” said Jon Shane, assistant professor of criminal justice at John Jay College. “By the time somebody recognizes what is happening or is injured, if the police are able to respond, it’s slow.”

Violence in NYC? No kidding. I always laugh when liberals on air groan about how supposedly violent and what a bunch of kooks the Tea Party movement are. Yet, there is gun violence in Chicago and most other Democrat-controlled big cities. Liberal rallies such as Occupy Wall Street are noted for attacks against police and areas strewn with garbage everywhere. When a WTO meeting takes place in any city around the world business owners start boarding up their shops and stores because of kooky left-wing anarchists physically destroying everything in their path. Enough with supposed right-wing violence. It’s happening under liberal control.

I agree that many leftist organized mobs do “bad things.” I don’t know whether or not some mobs like this are paid to wreak havoc, or not. I just chalk these incidents up to the fact that the thugs like this feel untouchable right now and their boldness is encouraged by examples such as the non-prosecution of the NBPP in Philadelphia voter intimidation case, for example.
Lots of tough talk about shooting them, but then you end up in jail as another George Zimmerman...headlines calling you an “evil, vicious racist who shot a sweet honor student.”

Two things stand out, Nowhere in the article does it say that all of these teens look just like the Presidents son, nor does it explain that this crap would never happen in the city I live in here in Arizona, or any city in Arizona. All these people that look like the Presidents son would not survive this type of action here.
I have gotta admit, as far as the logisitics and the “business model” for a new, re-thought form of criminal
activity goes, the flash mob is a pretty good one.
In this case you have almost certainly disarmed victims,
the storeowners, and a random public who could witness these
crimes (the random public) being equally disarmed, in fear for their lives by being totally outnumbered by the mob.
A citizen, or two, MIGHT intervene, just MIGHT , if he saw one perp wrecking/robbing a place of business, but if the mob is one or two dozen , all bets are off.
This is domestic terrorism plain and simple.
Flash mobs? A flash mob is a group of performers who show up in Grand Central Station at the appointed time and do a spontaneous artistic impression then disperse peacefully. These are marauding bands of vicious criminals wreaking havoc who should be shot on sight.

Given that it’s a liberal town where felons rule (that includes the politicians....especially the politicians), the worry is quite naturally that citizens would protect themselves.
Liberalism - revolt against it now, or suffer the inevitable consequences.
City government requires a minimum threshold level of crime to justify its existence, hence the practice of indirectly encouraging and/or ignoring crime.
Mayors and police chiefs know that crime-plagued citizens demand "solutions", e.g. bigger government in the form of more police and social services.
Ok, shooting might be a possible response but what are others. IT is the element of surprise there that makes it work for them.

I would say that depends on what you shoot them with. A paint ball gun loaded with blue leather dye or itching powder would be an interesting solution.
Yes they could sue you for “damages” but you could counter sue for damages to your shop.
