A “moderate” Republican? We already have too many of them.

Not much better than a run-of-the-mill democrat.

“I endorsed the economic platform of Romney/Ryan in 2012 because Democrats were denying the deficit and decrying necessary changes in federal entitlements. Unfettered, theirs is a recipe for generational catastrophe. To pretend the government can just print money is untenable and irresponsible.

“But I voted for Obama/Biden because the fiscal threat posed by the Democrats seemed less immediate then the GOP’s intrusion into the private space of abortion, as well as Republicans’ opposition to both the inevitability of immigration reform and the rights of gay people to get married. Those things I believe, so how am I a Republican?”

And since the Republican party has zero requirements for party membership or candidates Jerry Rivers, Michael Bloomberg or even Martin Sheen could call themselves Republicans and run for office with the full backing of the GOP elites.

Heck they don’t even require loyalty as we saw with the Lisa Murkowski debacle.

“vitalization”- a nice euphemism for prancing to the left. If that is what it takes to make the Republicans ‘vital’, then the GOP isn’t worth saving or taking over.

Im going ot be watching Rivera’s hair to see if the gray gradually gets touched up a bit as he goes into this next ‘phase’.

I'm not sure which is more laughable... Colin Powell claiming to be a "Republican", or Geraldo Rivera.

Fortunately for Geraldo, he can't ever be named "biggest joke in the Senate" as long as "Senator Al Franken" is still there.
