Liberal anchor Chris Matthews on Friday stooped to new low, smearing John McCain as an "angry" Vietnam veteran who is having a "flashback." Resorting to the cheapest of stereotypes, the Hardball host attempted to explain why McCain so aggressively opposed Chuck Hagel's nomination to be Secretary of Defense.
Matthews opened the show by sneering, "Why is John McCain so angry? Forty years after the Vietnam POWs came home, the most famous of them is angrier than ever." Regarding Thursday's congressional hearings, the journalist asserted that Vietnam "flashbacks must haunt still the mind and heart of John Sidney McCain." Dredging up the cliches of the unstable Vietnam veteran, Matthews declared, "...But I'm absolutely convinced we're watching a flashback."

Not a fan of John McCain here by any stretch of the imagination, but Chrissy Matthews is a complete a$$hole for saying such a thing. McCain at least served our country, what has Chrisy “Obama makes my leg tingle” done in comparison?
Actually nobody knows if he was competent enough to be an officer ~ that was the Nam, and as time has demonstrated, there were plenty of people who were assigned duties as officers and they’ve utterly failed ~ think of Calley, Powell, Carey ~ and that’s just for starts.
While I am no fan of McCain, I am SURE no fan of that idiot Matthews. Haven’t seen him in a couple years. I assume he hasn’t improved with age..

Listening to Chris Plante today and he played idiotic statements from Mathews, he mentions him at least a couple of times a day, mentions Scarborough and his trained puppet way to many times and I got to thinking that if ALL the Conservative talk shows and even THIS site didn’t mention the likes of Mathews, Piers etc they wouldn’t get any publicity at all because the audience they play to is basically nothing.
BTW I notice Leno had Piers on yesterday, so again, a pipsqueak brays like an ass and gets recognition...
If idiots like Matthews ever prayed, they should be eternally grateful that very few veterans have these stereotypical “flashbacks”. Otherwise, there would be very few liberal dingbats in media these days.

I served in US Army personnel administration during the Vietnam era, and know for a fact that many enlisteds scored high enough to be offered OCS, and declined because it meant a longer commitment.
I did precisely that.
Unless you have/know Hagel’s scores, you don’t know what you are talking about.
I can respect both men for their service, and not agree with their every political stance. I would not vote to confirm Hagel.

It is a very good thing that it was pissy Mathews that said these things. Had it been a journalist on a real network someone might have seen it and the word would have gotten out.
That said, I don’t think jaun mc shame made it back fron Nam with all of his wits. He really should have retired 20 years ago.
