Therefore, under paragraph (a) of this section, the shared responsibility payment imposed on H and J for 2016 is $2,400 (the lesser of $2,400 or $20,000).

That sounds like something straight out of the Soviet Union.

Let me guess - we all get the Bronze medal and the assorted deadbeats that make up the 47% will get Platinum service, all in the name of social justice.

Before 0bamaCare was even law I was sure it would destroy the health care system. The more I hear about what's in it I am becoming convinced that the destruction is going to be quite rapid.

0bamaCare will seize up the health care system like a handful of gravel poured into the carburetor of a running engine.

You could always go on strike. Don’t work, don’t pay. See who loses nerve first. I bet the govt will, given enough Americans with backbone.

Ok, so then what are the benefits for that "Bronze" plan? What are the deductibles, copays and co-insurance percentages or out of pocket annual maximums for each family member or the family as a whole?

In other words, what do they get for that "penalty" premium and how much of their butts are left hanging out, exposed to the personal out of pocket at time of service? A "Bronze" plan must, by any common denomiator, provide less coverage than the other three metalic grades of plans!

What's left uncovered in spite of a $20,000.00 annual "penalty"/tax??? BOHICA!!!

Oh! And what's the annual salary of that IRS agent who checks your tax returns to see if you either paid enough for private insurance or paid the right "penalty" instead? I'm sure it's more than 5 times the minimum "penalty" rate!!!

300Mil Americans / 4 * 20,000 = $1.5Trillion

Current spending is $2.7Trillion

Medicare is about $600B

$1.5 Trillion + 600B = $2.1Trillion

So there’s roughly $600B in fees and co pays to get to break even.

so are we really spending an aggregate of approximately $35k - $40k per family of 4 NOW??

Where is all this money going?
(just a rhetorical question)

I know what it’s like to pay that kind of money for health insurance. The Country will go into shock if that cost hits home for most every family.

This government obviously expects many of us to forgo food, water, shelter, fuel, clothing and all other daily necessities so we have enough money to pay for obozo care or the IRS or go to jail. It looks like a lot of people are going to be going to jail. In jail?? Then they won't be counted as unemployed or subject to any other form of government subsidy. Obozo, Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Bill Ayres and Bernadine Doarn must all be wetting their pants over this blow to our freedom. Now for our guns.

It’s what the sheeple were told by the TV that they wanted, so they voted for it.

I’m completely out of sympathy for the stupid and uninformed now.

If this hits as described, there ought to be an outrage against all the companies who sucked up to Obama for an exemption. Pick them off with boycotts.

I hope at the appropriate time Mr. Smith introduces legislation requiring Congress, the Administration and the Judiciary to be subject to the same healthcare legislation as the proletariat.

And anyone supporting a relative, who has fallen on hard times, is required to pay the penalty:

“... b. Liability for shared responsibility payment
i. Liability for dependents
Under section 5000A(b)(3)(A), if an individual with respect to whom the shared
responsibility payment is imposed for a month is another individual’s dependent (as
defined in section 152) for the taxable year including that month, the other individual is
liable for the shared responsibility payment for the dependent. The proposed
regulations clarify that a taxpayer is liable for the shared responsibility payment imposed
with respect to any individual for a month in a taxable year for which the taxpayer may
claim a personal exemption deduction for the individual (that is, the dependent) for that
taxable year. Whether the taxpayer actually claims the individual as a dependent for
the taxable year does not affect the taxpayer’s liability for the shared responsibility
payment for the individual.”

So, since Median Household income is $49K, the IRS assumes that a family will spend 40.8% of its pre-tax income on Healthcare?

Someone should have read the monstrosity before they passed it!

UN-freaking-believable.

What do YOU pay in all those other taxes that are assessed: income tax - federal, state and city, sales tax, personal property tax, automobile stickers/inspections/tags, driver’s license “fees”, add-on taxes to telephone, television, internet, utility services, hotel occupancy taxes...

Perhaps we should each sit down and really EVALUATE/CALCULATE the TAXES we pay.

Will you have any money remaining for food, shelter, and clothing?

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that I am totally dismayed by the current state of our situation.

I WANT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY LIFE! (except for national security)

It doesn’t look to me like ya’ll understand the program. Or, maybe I don’t. If you pay the penalty you will still be covered under the Bronze plan. So, in this case, the Bronze plan will cost the family 2,400 bucks. The cost of the plan to the government is approximated at 20,000. Or you can keep your own coverage if you choose.
