The Superbowl pregame & halftime shows are not under the control of the NFL. They are fully under the control of CBS.
Remember the SB HT "wardrobe malfunction" a few years back? It was CBS (and its parent company at that time, Viacom) who were legally pursued as responsible parties.
This lawsuit notice was pulled with the attorney saying he may file it again.
What is interesting is this quote:
“Usually, a fellow like Adam Lanza would have been known as a potential problem to the police, Pinsky told the newspaper.”
So is this why it went from Lanza having been in trouble before but juvenile records are sealed to Vance claiming he had never been in trouble with the law.
I suspect a lot of what we have been seeing is to protect from lawsuits.
I really don’t see how young children would be equipped to go on a stage just a couple of months after having been almost gunned down.
Thanks for the clarification.
I question the motivation of the NFL.
I KNOW what the motivation of CBS is.
The NFL exercises some control. The NFL banned Up With People in the mid-80s, and there was a push towards pop stars that led to what we have now, also they’ve banned MTV from it after the Jackson incident. While they want the networks to be able to showcase themselves in the show in someway (hence why Fox always brings out American Idol winners, and the last CBS Super Bowl had The Who which half the CBS line up uses as theme songs) there are still directions coming from the league. The NFL is why Viacom no longer owns CBS, after the Jackson debacle they declared that Viacom would never get an NFL contract again, in order to keep the NFL CBS had to be divested.
Speaking of Viacom, have you ever heard of the Viacom ‘V of Doom’?
It’s the old Viacom logo used at the end of old shows like “Hawaii 5-0”.
You can look it up on YouTube if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
That friggin’ logo creeps me out.
