..."or if she happened to seek shelter from the rain under the same canopy as the gang members."

Happens all the time.

Our side does not understand the dynamics of chicago politics. In Illinois gun control is used as a distraction and part of the propaganda war against conservative minded white voters, nothing else. The authorites never go after guns in Chicago because that means going against the base for black politicians. Yes folks gangs are an important part of the black political base. Years ago Jesse Jackson held a news presser with several black elected officials calling for the release of Larry Hoover, imprisoned drug king pin of one of the biggest gangs in Chicago. To his credit Mayor Daley went after the lowest minded black and hispanic politicians, the ones with gang connections but he never dropped the gun control stupidity.

Poor kid. Looks like more of a neighborhood playground than an actual park. Peace be with her and her family.

Better commentary and opinions on things can be given if you actually read the information about the topic. Just a suggestion.

CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports the victim, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, was taking shelter from the rain with a group of 10 to 12 teenagers under a canopy in Vivian Gordon Harsh Park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when someone jumped a fence, ran up to them, and opened fire.

At least some of the people with her were from her school volleyball team. It's not clear whether the gang members were part of the volleyball team or not.

She was an honor student. I'm sure her parents were really proud of her. She was 15 years old and had probably a wonderful life ahead of her. By the way, this was not a kid from a normally high-crime neighborhood:

Jennifer West lives right near where the victims fell. She said shootings are rare in the neighborhood.

“We hardly … have any crime. There’s been a few break-ins over the past two years since we’ve been here, but nothing that’s ever caused alarm,” she said.

Elsewhere on the web it says her ambition was to become either a pharmacist or a journalist:

“Her life was dominated by her activities and the things she was into,” he said.

“I’ve known this little girl her entire life," added Lakeisha Stewart. "I can’t think of a moment that this child did anything wrong. She always strived to do the right thing."

From all appearances, she seems to have been a lovely young woman in every sense of the word. She played in the band, played volleyball, was an honor student.

Gun control in Chicago has failed. This is one victim of the result of the policies in that liberal-run city.

And now we have a Chicago politician trying to impose the same on the rest of the country.
