Sen. Cruz to Chicago Mayor: Keep gun control efforts "north of the Red River"
KETK ^ | Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) sent a letter to gunmakers, banks, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Thursday, after Emanuel reportedly sent letters to banks asking that they stop doing business with certain firearm manufacturers.

In the letter, Cruz urged the mayor to keep his attacks on the Second Amendment to his own city, and informed gunmakers that their companies and business would be welcome in the state of Texas.

Here is how the letter reads:

To the CEOs of Bank of America and TD Bank Group: It has recently been reported that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel sent each of you letters urging that you threaten to cease transacting business with American firearm manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co.

Both of your companies do considerable business in the City of Chicago, and you may be understandably concerned that there are risks to refusing to comply with the demands of a politician who has earned the nickname, "The Godfather".

In Texas, we have a more modest view of government.

We do not accept the notion that government officials should behave as bullies, trying to harass or pressure private companies into enlisting in a political lobbying campaign. And we subscribe to the notion, quaint in some quarters, that private companies don't work for elected officials; elected officials work for private citizens.

In light of the reception you have received in the Windy City, please know that Texas would certainly welcome more of your business and the jobs you create.

In the future, I would ask that you might keep your efforts to diminish the Bill of Rights north of the Red River.

Hey! How about aiming a few hundred miles further north and east there Senator! Sheesh!

In other words, Cruz told Rahm to F himself.

How about one small adjustment:

"In the future, I would ask that you might keep your efforts to diminish the Bill of Rights north of your sphincter."

Make them take an “Oath of Conservtism” before entering. Failing to keep the oath is punishable by banishment and a $100,000 fine.

I’m not sure that I know what to think of this statement myself.

I’m still waiting for Baraq and Rhambo to deputize the Million Moms for Gun Control and have them clean up the Chicago ghetto next summer.

I’ve encouraged my critters to do, or not do, a lot of things, but these days I’m not sure I can rely on them anymore...

I agree, strength in numbers. We’re gonna need it...
