Barbara Walters has been in the hospital for more than a week after she fell and hit her head during pre-Inauguration festivities in Washington, D.C. — and now the View co-host has contracted the chickenpox.

While doctors were monitoring Walters after her fall, they noticed her fever was not subsiding and eventually determined that it was due to chickenpox, according to The Associated Press.

Not necessarily.
My daughter has been exposed at least six times, by kids that had active eruptions (chicken pox parties) and has been vaccinated four times but still has no immunity to the chicken pox virus.
She may never get chicken pox but maybe when she is older who knows.

As much as I would love to join the jeering crowd on this one, having chicken pox or shingles when you are old can be a severely nasty illness.

“Shingles” is the adult form of chicken pox.

The virus hides out forever in your skin nerves after you get it as a child.

Stress and sun exposure can cause it come back.

I came down with sun related shingles in my mid-50’s.

Wow!

Inside my ears, inside my nose, in my throat, horrible pain in my face, it lasts for 2-3 weeks.

Severe cases like mine are unusual, but people die from shingles (spreads to internal organs), they can be blinded, they can have severe pain for months or years, especially in the face.

Yeah, yeah, OK, deep in my heart I'm laughing at Barbara Walters, too.

Walters is 83. At 83 you don’t get chicken pox, you get the shingles (which I would not wish on her nor anyone as they are quite painful)

It worked? I put a pox on her house for her part in “The Spew”.

“This is just my inner sh*t detector going off, my inuition telling me that this isn’t what it seems. Maybe it is. In any case, it’s a strange report.”

I have it on sound medical knowledge that a true case of Chicken Pox contracted at over 75 years of age will cure a lisp.

If we’re lucky, the chickenpox will morph into shingles in the week of two after her chickenpox begins to get better.

As a child I could not catch so much as the three day measles. Missed three days of school in twelve years.

When I was 27, my 1 year old daughter came down with chickenpox. She had maybe a dozen pox and never slowed down a bit. One week later I was down and out delirious with high fever and pox from head to toe. Forty years later she got shingles. One week later so did I. The gift that keeps on giving. When she was two, the mumps were going around. I grabbed her and we both went for mump shots. We didn’t get mumps.

Just sitting on the same panel with Whoopi Goldberg is enough to give you all types of STD’s.
