Assault Weapons Ban Now Lacks Votes Needed to Pass Senate
NewsMax ^ | Jan 25, 2013 | NewsMax Staff

A proposed ban on sales of assault weapons would be defeated in the U.S. Senate today unless some members changed their current views, based on a Bloomberg review of recent lawmaker statements and interviews.

At least six of the 55 senators who caucus with Democrats have recently expressed skepticism or outright opposition to a ban, the review found. That means Democrats wouldn’t have a simple 51-vote majority to pass the measure, let alone the 60 votes needed to break a Republican filibuster to bring it to a floor vote.

The other thing about this bill that really sticks in my craw is that the "Ruling Elite" wanted to exempt themselves from the same laws they were trying to force on "The Ruled"...!

Haven't they done this before? On other bills? Aren't they exempt from 0ScaryCare? (I haven't read the bill, so I'm not sure.)

OK, but keep a lookout for the “compromise” bill.

Correct! Why in hell are any Republicans working on a bipartisan deal?

They should filibuster this bill to death, and if it is brought to a vote, ensure that nothing is "watered down" to make it palatable.

Yes, as new as the Gun Free School Zones Act.

Blank checks drawn on unlimited accounts are very persuasive.

If the near possibility of “AR” style weapons being banned goes away, can we expect prices to come back down?

Supply and demand is like gravity.

Yes.

The supply will catch up with the demand.

Guns and ammo prices seem like gas prices. Any worry and they’ll spike and never come down.

All Senate Blue-dogs MUST be defeated in 2014. Prepare for the battle of you life!

Better a blue dog than a rino, ass hole, bastard like Mark Kirk - so called "R" Illinois, who has just introduced his own gun grabbing bill in the senate.

Yes, I would vote for a blue dog dem before I would vote for him. Unfortunately here in Illinois that is not an option. Republicans vie with democrats to see who can be the most liberal.

A pox on the lot of them.

With a tip-o-the-hat to Hillary "What difference does it make?!?!?!"

The point is to keep the controversy alive in order to embarrass and ridicule the GOP. Every topic is designed to keep chipping away at Republicans, and even RINOs. The topic doesn't matter.

We learned with the passage of Obamacare that Congress is not interested in the public’s opinion.

Every decision from now on will need a ton of public energy.

Yeah, I hear ya’, but we gotta take this step by step. Get solid control of the Senate and House. This stops Obama in his tracks. Then clean house - without mercy - of the RINOs!

If I cannot purchase an AR, can I purchase an AK?

You know, I was thinking the same thing. Several contributing factors also caused this. Among them:

1.) People ARE fed up and they are no longer just arming up. They are mobilizing. We Will Fight!

2.)More of us than them. Even though their turning this into a class war. Their “class” of people are sheeples based on emotional, low education, cowardice. Not the people they can count on to defend them.

3.)People are more than just mobilizing, they are organized, educated, and prepared.

4.)Even though they are some liberal, pos’s in the military, their also outnumbered by the conservative, God fearing, American loving constitutionalists.

5.)People will not give up their guns, no way, no how, no way in hell, hence number 1.

6)Last, but not least. If for some unGodly reason they past it. The constitution is on our side. Us, We the people! when it’s all said and done we are on the right side of the law. Which means as traitors, after we win, their is a reality to their cowardice also that says, f u obummer, I’m not dying for you.
