Feinstein Gun Control Bill to Exempt Government Officials
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 01/25/2013 5:27:23 AM PST by Perdogg

Not everyone will have to abide by Senator Dianne Feinstein's gun control bill. If the proposed legislation becomes law, government officials and others will be exempt.

"Mrs. Feinstein's measure would exempt more than 2,200 types of hunting and sporting rifles; guns manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; and weapons used by government officials, law enforcement and retired law enforcement personnel," the Washington Times reports.

But of course, "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal then others"

Our betters in government do not want the serfs (former US citizens) to be armed. Not surprising at all, seldom has the conqueror allowed the conquered arms.

Why do people in POWER always want to declare the rest of us all incompetent?
We do not need, we do not want, to be wards of the state.
We are not serfs or indentured servants, but that's what they want us to be.
We are FREE Men and Women, adults, and we NEED our guns to make sure we stay that way.

and retired law enforcement personnel

I can understand (but still not like) the idea of current law officers being allowed otherwise prohibited weapons, but why do they always excuse retired cops? The current ones are covered by internal affairs and psychological evaluations. The retired ones are no longer subject to department discipline, no longer have colleagues keeping an eye on them to see if they are muttering to themselves all the time.

Another word for a retired cop is civilian.

She gave up her permit and now has armed guards. She can afford to do that with the profits from all the govt contracts she steered to her hubby.

I love the Constitution, but we need an amendment: "Congress shall not exempt themselves from laws they inflict on the People."

Petition to Sarah Palin: Governor, please announce your candidacy now and make this amendment your first promise.

Once again, we see the reincarnation of Idi Amin. Turning America into another african crap factory is Odinga’s evil goal. Will you submit? That is the question.

Pathetic hypocrites.

The NY law, hastily thrown together, doesn’t exempt LEOs from the mag capacity limitation. Because after all, “No honest man needs more than 7 rounds, anyways.”

These tyrants are nothing but control freaks. Keep in mind, freedom is never free. Will you submit, that is the question to ponder?

It is almost as if they know this issue is a loser for them and they put this in there on purpose. Not to mention the presser where it was stated that the 223 will blow up large animals. Either they want this to fail, or its a very bad parody, on par with an SNL skit.

Why do I as a law abiding citizen have to give up the weapon that I have had for many years and never once fired a shot in anger?

Liberals love to cite Blackstone's Ratio, that it is better to allow 10 criminals escape than allow one innocent to suffer.

Unless you are a conservative. Then, making the innocent suffer is valid because they do not see conservatives as anything other than criminals.

Maybe if a bill like this gets signed into law the owners of these weapons should turn them all in to the authorities in Washington on the same day. 40 million gun owners bringing their newly illegal weapons to Washington, along with the ammo they will no longer need would be a patriotic gesture. I’m sure our overlords would like to be present for such a show of mass obedience so we’d have to make sure the congress and the administration would be in town for the event. April 18 or July 4 might be a good date for the festivities. Any thoughts?

I’m not some jackass like every liberal I’ve ever talked to, who throws around the word “freedom” as though it’s mere mention will make me free or saying it over and over will endow understanding of it. I actually understand that had I been born in some worthless shithole in the middle-east, I would have already been murdered for having been born with gender dysphoria.

My life is a gift from God, but the fact that I’m still alive is a tolerance by my fellow citizens and a testament to the document we’ve agreed to live under.

I am morally certain where my line is. And no one should cross it: nothing on Earth is more dangerous than “certain”.

government officials and others will be exempt.

So the law will affect the law-abiding common folk but the not the lawless -- criminals and government officials.

How appropriate is that.

Pigs will fly before this old battleaxe’s weapons ban will pass Congress. Hell, I don’t think nothing will pass. It’s all smoke and mirrors to try and convince the public that only democrats care about “the children”, while at the same time believing in abortion on demand up through 9 months. To hell with these hypocritical bastards.
