Due to Reed Exhibitions' refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles from the February 2-10 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA, the National Rifle Association has decided to withdraw from the show. We had called on Reed Exhibitions to reconsider their decision; unfortunately they have steadfastly refused to do so. As a result, the NRA will not be participating in the upcoming show in Harrisburg or in any other shows hosted by Reed Exhibitions that maintain this policy. We are disappointed that Reed Exhibitions has ignored the concerns expressed by attendees, the outdoor industry and the NRA in not reconsidering their position to ban the display of Modern Sporting Rifles.
There are nearly 13,000 likes on the Facebook Boycott page for the show. Many people are saying that they, their family and friends are not going to the show. I have been working this boycott for the last 4 days. I have recognized several names over the last few days, but I have talked to tens of other people that normally go to show, and they will not attend. I went shooting on Sat. and Sun. at MSA and everyone I talked to said they were boycotting - and I truly believe those people would have gone. I have gone every year since I moved here in the mid '80's.
About 250,000 people annually attend the show. They will be lucky to get 50,000 low information people this year. And those that go, will find nothing at the show. In fact, the show may just be cancelled the way the vendor and speaker boycotts are happening.

History has shown that “giving in” like that is the wrong strategy. It shows you think your opponent has a valid concerns worthy of consideration. It validates their attacks and makes you look weak. As much as I despise the left we can learn from how they handle the opposition. They dont take a consiliatory approach, they become indignant that you would oppose them, ridicule you and refuse to compromise. We need to do the same. The arguments should be framed in terms of civil rights, oppression, fairness and freedom. WE HAVENT DONE ANYTHING WRONG! WHY ARE WE BEING ATTACKED? Is it suddenly OK to deprive people of their rights BEFORE they commit a crime? This is an argument we can win if we make it.
This battle is being won. There is no compromise. This Sportsmen’s show is one of the largest in the world. It is being shut down by consumers and vendors, many of which are not involved in hunting or shooting sports. There will fall out, or what I like to call market correction. If the show doesn’t go completely bust, the vendors that do decide to side with the promoter will lose business.
