If they do this, the government may be attacked at its weakest link. The weakest link is the IRS. Without revenue, even despite money printing and borrowing, the credit rating will plummet. It’s just like a huge debtor that has just lost his job with no ability to pay: they are hopeless and beyond deadbeat status.
Perhaps there will be massive tax revolt, but I doubt it. However, if the attempted seizure of guns leads to civil unrest, it’s a new game. What does the IRS have to do with this game changer? IRS employees and families could become targets. Capture a high ranking IRS IT guy and hack the whole system.
The Federal government simply cannot operate w/o the IRS and revenue.

Some points to consider regarding the IRS while looking at the possibility of things going “all-in”

1) It knows peoples addresses, while people don’t know its (beyond what’s in the phonebook or its website).

2)It takes $ before the person even sees it, by coercing employers.

Then again, if things do go “all-in,” one sides IT guys will counter my first point, and that same sides company CEOs will counter the second.
