> The Congressmen who invested in this company
already made their profit.

Time to have TSA but their next companies’ products.

You hit the nail square on the head. It was never about safety; it was about selling those scanning booths and atuffing the pockets of politican. Wonder how much they made off with?

Obama’s cronies made a fortune selling those scanners to the TSA.

Bush's cronies. It's important to be precise, as the statists wear the costumes of either faction as it suits their purposes.

Why can't the old, hand held scanner be used? Safe or not?

I'd go with a hand held scan if it was safe, and not look askance at carry on being scanned.

But, what about photo film and laptops? Can they go through any scan without crumbling?

What if they go into baggage; are film and laptops scanned?

"Cavity searches".

If I get a notice from my dentist that I just had teeth cleaned and that my X-Ray showed nothing irregular, think I could be excused...

The hand held is a magnatometer, it’s good at detecting metallic objects like guns and knee replacements. Not so good a catching plastic explosives and other things that bring airplanes out of the sky and turn people into little bitty pieces.

For my purposes (discovering followers of the religion of peace who were trying to blow soldiers to smithereens), I found the L3 devices to be the best thing out there.

".... The security guy had me read a document and asked me if I agreed to be checked. Of course the alternative was that you would not be allowed on the plane."

You should check out RT. They are a lot more reliable than the US Lame Stream Media.

Why do I get the feeling this was more about potential lawsuits from TSA employees standing next to a radiation source all day and not being allowed to wear a dosimeter.
