Gov. Rick Perry released the following statement regarding President Obama's executive actions:
"The Vice President's committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.
"Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.
"There is evil prowling in the world - it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.
"In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president."

President to be "the Supreme Ruler of the Universe" only needed Ten Commandments for all people, for all situations, and for all time, and when He came to earth, He summed up those Ten as being only One great law:

Perhaps if an American President were publicly to acknowledge, as did many previous Presidents, this basic duty of citizens toward each other, emphasizing that the duty is to the Creator and Giver of Life, Liberty, and Rights, then a new tone might be set for youth in the nation.
Were the President of the United States to undertake a national effort to restore the teaching of the ideas of our Declaration of Independence in the schools, emphasizing the Creator-endowed rights and liberties of each individual and their duties and responsibilities as citizens, how might that change the environment in the society?

That’s a fact. We had trolls from DU and slick infiltrators from the Soros group and obuma’s campaign, trashing Perry.
They did their dirty work and are no longer posting on FR, yet we still have a handful of their useful idiots justifying their stupidity.
Compared to Romney, he would have been a great conservative candidate.
I already to move to Texas, kick the crap out of liberals in Austin, Houston, and DFW and then expand the Republics borders to its original size.
As my tag line still notes — Gov. Perry was my candidate for 2012 and will be for 2016.

As a Texan by choice and an early retired ghetto Yankee firefighter, I had a great experience today. I live in rural Texas and as a licensed AC contrator had to happen upon a call to a retired local Police chief today (a regular customer for the last 5 yrs) just as Obama came on. WOW what a great conversation we had. I don’t think law abiding citizens HERE don’t have to worry.
I told him I’m a veteran and he said I too am. I said,” I doubt fellow American soldiers will move against us.

It's things like that which will open your eyes.

Actually, we don’t know these things — yet.
I tried to separate the wheat from the chaff insofar as the news reports were concerned.
But I don’t recall seeing ANYWHERE the following:
- Whether or not Nancy Lanza kept a gun safe;
- Whether she kept all her weapons in it, or only some;
- Whether the weapons Adam Lanza used in the attack had been locked up in a gun safe (if there was one), or not;
- If there was a safe, and if they were locked up, how he got access to them.
I also don’t recall the published reports saying what weapon he used to kill her.
I’m sure the investigators have discovered some of this, but haven’t heard from them yet.
I’ll make a completely uneducated guess that she probably did have a safe, and that she did keep most of the weapons in it, but that she left at least one out for reasons of home defense (and he used this one against her). If she didn’t keep one “out”, perhaps Adam had somehow discovered the combination to the safe.
My thoughts only, and I could be wrong.

I don’t know about that - where did you find that statement? Good for us if we did it.

We don’t know that. She could have had them locked up but he’s an adult and could get into any place she had them locked. She had money so she likely had a gun case with glass in it and he easily got in it. She had no way of knowing he was going to do that. People who have mental problems are not any more likely to kill someone than any other person. Several mentally distubed people have done it, but the percentage of people with mental problems killing someone is very small. People tend to think if one does it, they must all be ready to kill us and that is not true.

There were only a few who didn’t like him. Most were like me and he is my governor. I knew enough about him to know he couldn’t be president. I knew he couldn’t think on his feet, never has. He has a stock number of statements to say and that’s about it. He uses the wrong words because he can’t think of the right word and that’s not presidential material when the right word matters.
He is a fine conservative governor and doesn’t have to speak much to groups. He does his conservative thing in the legislature and only occasionally has to be held back from doing something stupid. His executive order to have girls innoculated at school for a cancer related to sex, was a stupid move and we had to vote that down in the legislature to stop that from becoming law. He is fine in Texas, just fine.
