Does this mean that all those people in NY counties exposed as being gun owners will be considered criminals if their handgun holds more than seven rounds?

How soon will the Confiscations begin!

Someone needs to start legislation requiring politicians to start Quartering troops.

Let’s see how they like it.

Alas, it’s a congressional rule, conveniently ignored when expedient or misdirection is necessary. They legislate in the manner of playing tennis with the net down.

Their “base pay” is around $80,000 for a part time job - usually beginning in January and ending sometime toward the end of June. Those with juice get plum committee assignments, called lulus, which sweeten the pot with generous five figure add-ons. Then there’s the $185 per diem whether they are actually legislating or just sitting around waiting for some action - and I challenge you to define “action.” sd

New York’s law, called the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act:

•Bans possession of any high-capacity magazines regardless of when they were made or sold. Only clips able to hold up to seven rounds can be sold in the state. Clips able to hold seven to 10 rounds can be possessed, but cannot be loaded with more than seven rounds. If an owner is found to have eight or more bullets in a magazine, he or she could face a misdemeanor charge.

•Requires ammunition dealers to do background checks, similar to those for gun buyers. Dealers are required to report all sales, including amounts, to the state. Internet sales of ammunition are allowed, but the ammunition will have to be shipped to a licensed dealer in New York state for pickup.

•Requires creation of a registry of assault weapons. Those New Yorkers who already own such weapons would be required to register their guns with the state.

•Most controversially, requires any therapist who believes a mental health patient made a credible threat of harming others to report the threat to a mental health director, who would then have to report serious threats to the state Department of Criminal Justice Services. A patient’s gun could be taken from him or her, as well.

•Stipulates that stolen guns should be reported within 24 hours.

•Tightens the state’s description of an “assault” weapon. Previous state law defined an assault weapon as having two “military rifle” features, but the new law reduces that specification to just one feature

•Requires background checks for all gun sales, including by private dealers — except for sales to members of the seller’s immediate family.

"We hear some talk of Seccession but are not THESE states breaking with the constitution by the nature of their actions? They are in fact leaving the US."

Agreed. Secede New York and states that have already been ruined by New Yorkers (e.g., California) from the USA--not the US-culture states. Only allow reentry into the USA for states that prove rehabilitation to US culture.

One of the biggest errors Gen. Washington made was not burning NYC to the ground. That city was a nest of redcoats filled with females who would lift up their skirts to anyone in red. The situation hasn’t changed in 250 years, and the option to burn it to the ground is now in our hands.

I don’t know what a “Fudd” is, but I’ll take a stab at it:

Perhaps it is referring to Elmer Fudd, legendary hunter of Bugs Bunny fame.

But don’t quote me.

Regards from a new potential felon,

I have to ask...
WHAT is a, "FUDD?"

From the context, I suppose it refers to the cartoon character Elmer Fudd, who is a hunter.

In the 1940s, did the morons at the NYT refer to the greatest mass murderer machine since the democrat party as Mr. Hitler?

Concealed carry classes are all full and there is standing room only at gunshows.

I've often wondered why I can't find a seat at the S.A. gunshow. There aren't any chairs!

Please y’all, stay away from Texas.

Yeah! We got aintz.....fahr aintz....millions of'm.

Requires background checks for all gun sales, including by private dealers — except for sales to members of the seller’s immediate family.

So... you could start a polygamist group that allows unlimited multiple marriages to anyone so that everyone in New York could become immediate family and therefore bypass the background check. (/SARC)

What do law enforcement people in New York think about enforcing unconstitutional laws? I recall some Germans in the late '40s claiming that they were just enforcing the laws of the time...just before they went for a swing.

They said on the news as soon as he signs it. It’s probably law now. NYS sucks.

Why do lawful gun owners always have to bear the burden of crimes committed with guns?

Because gun laws are only meant to control people like us.

I just applied for a job in SC. I will be working my way toward TX in the next few days. I used to live in El Paso, aka Ft Bliss. I loved the area. That was a long time ago. Not sure what it is like now.

I don’t know what is east of El Paso.
