N.Y. Assembly Speaker Silver: ‘We Are Going To Ban Assault Weapons’
CBS New York ^ | 1/14/2013 | CBS

ALBANY (CBSNewYork) – The New York State Legislature was poised Monday night to pass the first gun control measure following the Newtown school massacre. This as the vice president was set to unveil federal proposals to end gun violence on Tuesday.

Albany lawmakers have reportedly ironed out the kinks, allowing them to enact new gun control measures in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting. Assuming the new bill passes — it was sent to both house of the Legislature on Monday night — it will turn into the toughest set of gun control laws in the country. ...

The new state legislation will:

* Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10

* Force gun owners to renew their licenses every five years

* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime

* Stiffen penalties for bringing a gun on school property

* New restrictions on the assault weapons already owned by New Yorkers

“They will be basically not permitted to be transferred. They will be grandfathered in but not in terms of a transfer. There will be a registry,” Silver said.

I really do feel sorry for the folks in Upstate NY and the Downstater’s in Illinois. They’re just normal folks like most of us but are being held hostage by cities that can’t control their minority populations, particularly Chicago.

The political buffoons are total morons. You can’t kill anyone with 7 rounds? What a stupid law. They’ve been doing way too many recreational drugs up there.

This would immediately render illegal all 10+ rd. mags and clips?? Why don't they just say THAT instead of being cowards and say the new limit is 7?

Sounds like NY is being prepped for an easy conquering by 0bama's CIVILIAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE (Of course THEY'LL be issued firearms by the gov't) after all the Constitution-loving NY'ers leave the State.

Rep. Stockman of Texas is the other ‘George Washington’ of our day.. Threatening to issue Articles of Impeachment against 0bama if he issues EO against 2nd Amendment.

Violation of USC Title 18 Sec 241/241. Deprivation of civil Rights under color of law.

Art 6 para 2. Laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding...

2A. Shall not be infringed.

Sounds guilty as hell. Hang him.

Do you think they are wording it this way so that even guns like the M1 Garand, which holds 8 rounds, will be banned?

But everyone knows all you have to do is vote republican and its all hunky-doory!

Yep!
It seems like Republicans like CLOSED DOORS too, especially when they want to pass a bill that violates 2 amendments
The Second and Fourth Amendment.

>>Is there any weapon that is not used for assault purposes?>>

A Freeper recently suggested that they be called Defense Weapons. I forget the Freeper’s name, but I love his suggestion.

” Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime”

Just another excuse to keep a black man in prison.

Things may be legally different this time.

Since the Heller decision “incorporated” the 2nd as one of those rights the states’ can’t abrogate according to the 14th amendment, the 2nd amendment now applies to state government as well as the federal government.

I’m sure a lawyer here on FR could explain it better that I did.
