Stagarms ^

Posted on 01/13/2013 4:42:29 PM PST by Red in Blue PA

We would like to thank all of our customers for your support. Currently we have approximately two years of backorders for rifles, upper halves, and lower receivers. Due to this overwhelming demand most of our office staff have temporarily been pulled from their normal positions to pack and ship orders. This will allow us to get our products into your hands as fast as possible before any potential governmental restriction. Orders will be processed in the order they were received. Our normal billing policies will be in effect and your payment will be processed (your order will be charged) just prior to the start of manufacturing, which is approximately two weeks before the order ships. If your payment method is declined, our billing department will contact you by e-mail. Please use the contact forms at the proper links below to contact us.

At this time we are temporarily:

Suspending accepting new orders except for certain parts and accessories placed on our webstore. Suspending accepting new dealers. Unable to provide lead times or order status. We are working 24/7 to pack and ship orders. Unable to expedite or add items to orders. Please use the links below for more information on the following: Government and Police Department Requests and Ordering Download our Catalog Canceling your order Visit our Dealer Locator Shipping policies Shipping Problems, Returns & Repairs We thank you for your understanding.

A shotgun is NOT “worthless” at 100 yards, or even 200! It’s a death machine at 100, and will sure make somebody decide on another plan at 200.

I'll second that. If you need to engage jackboots at that range, I recommend these:

Special Forces Maximum Barrier Penetration Magnum (Click on the "Ballistic Data" and "Penetration testing" links on that page). The ammo is available here.

Also recommended: a Mesa Tactical recoil stock.

Yes, I believe I can field strip and re-assemble my AK in 30 seconds (if the bolt carrier cooperates).......

LOL -- Gotcha.

That is very cool, thanks. Who makes that gun...?

FN HERSTAL, it's their PS-90.

and I am also aware that my tactical shotgun is worthless at 100 yds

Unless you are shooting rifled slugs, in which case, your range is extended a bit (150 to 200 yds max). Even at that range, a 1 oz, .72" diameter piece of lead is going to HURT.

I had an older WASR-10 7.62 but, sadly, it was devoured by steel termites ....
A couple things to look for if examining an older WASR.
Century Int’l imported these Romanian carbines and machined-out the magazine well so it would hold larger magazines.
There wasn’t much `fit and finish’ particularly in the early models, so you may find tooling marks.
But they don’t effect performance, the price was right, mine went bang every time and they hit to point of aim. Anyone who tells you an AK isn’t accurate probably hasn’t shot one and/or is comparing it to an AR.
OK,
imp: Some of the early WASR front sites were canted, so make sure it isn’t screwy or you face having to fix it.
Also, if the trigger doesn’t have `TAPCO’ stamped on it you may have some `trigger slap’ and that’s no good, but you can remedy that as well with a Dremel.

You cleaned your AK, Victor? WASR chrome-lined barrel, I thought that was optional! ;^) At your service, td.

I found the Ruger sr-22 to be the most frustrating field strip of the guns I have.

Try taking apart a Ruger Mk III .22 target pistol. Incredible. Ruger builds heavy duty stuff, but otherwise their engineers are idiots.

My brother in law is a manufacturer. Told them to go into ammo about 4 yrs ago. Didn’t listen.

Send him an "I told you so"-card?

Hey buddy...I don't have a WASR, I was fortunate enough to come across a SAIGA, Russian made by Legion in the original Kalashnikov factory. They are marketed here in the States by Arsenal in Nevada and they are the real deal. The model # is SGL21, and it is an incredible weapon. Bud's Gun shop carries/did carry this gun and they are a steal at around $800 (or at least they used to cost $800)....

The thing is that around here, the only range does not allow the firing of anything other than birdshot. No buckshot, no magnum rounds also cannot fire into paper targets on any of the ranges, only at clay pigeons or into the ground.

So I have not been able to test the spread pattern for buckshot out of the 18” barrel in any way. I would either have to find some far away woods and fire it there or take it to an out of state range, such as in Louisiana.

My step dad had that pistol when I was growing up. it was the first pistol I was ever trained on, but I never had the opportunity to try and field strip guns at that time because I was too young.

I have heard that that particular gun is a real son of a...

I forgot to mention...mine got lost in a terrible boating accident; it was just as well- the steel eating termites had just about finished it off....

Same gun you could buy at Walmart a few months ago for under $1000. Amazing.

Obama has been gold for the gun industry.

Melissa Harris Perry MSNBC had a older loud black woman on her show this morning who said she lost two sons ‘due to gun violence’.

She said she and some others like her marched to the state houses demanding answers to ‘who is putting guns in their baby's hands?’.

No one on the show asked her about why they didnt teach their boys to not commit crimes.

AK’s are not as accurate as AR15’s. The only one that comes close is the VEPR and you need to make sure you get one that has been converted to accept AK mags.

On the subject of shotties at tthe 100 yard line, consider the 12 gauge “Tir-Ball” load. It consists of 3 .600 diameter lead balls (hardened, too!).

Recoil is ‘memoraable, of course. So is the pattern, as 2 or 3 in a man size target is quite doable.

Triple O buckshot is also good for longer ranges, and for close range, #1 buck provides more wound channel area than Double O buckshot.

o I wonder what a Bushmaster AR-15 new in box goes for these days.

I went to a show today and saw a Bushmaster that didn't look new, M4 style, for $3000. There was a guy walking around with a Stag Arms M4gery with an $1800 price tag on it.

I passed on those.

A Romanian AK model SAR-2 had a $1200 price tag on it.

Magazines are starting to come down in price as is ammo, fortunately. 9mm, 223, and 22LR are still sold out in bulk quantities, however. It was available single-box here and there at not too outrageous prices. $13.50 for 20 rounds of 223 and $15 for 50 rounds of 9mm were the best prices for name-brand (Remington) that I could track down.

Give it a few months. Prices will come back to something resembling reality then.

Why, oh why did I not invest in weapon maker or ammunition stocks a year ago? And sell this month?

Oh well, I never wanted to be rich anyway. :)

Reading your first book in the series now. Just got to the end of “banning day”. It’s a good read; I’ll certainly read the entire series.

I had to sign up for amazon to read it because my wife loves her nook and that’s the e-reader lying around the house.

Thanks for the good read. As soon as I’m down browsing here, I’m going back to the book.

If I need something for home defense, I just call my son - hunter, combat vet, police officer. He’s no fool, he’s got the right tools and all legal. Getting shot at is a good incentive to being better trained and armed than the enemy, the criminal, or the nutcase (he’s disarmed two such fine fellows).

I could also call on his K-9. She’s always looking for a snack - i.e. humans, the other red meat.

My daughter ran a shooting range and store. She’s no fool.

As for me, well, I’ll never tell. OK, I have a WW2 or imitation machete that sucked in the jungles of Guatemala. It was the long knife that cut through the vines with ease.

Seems that half my block is armed (police, Secret Service, formerly some DEA agents, Deputy Sheriff, a couple soldiers). The only problem is, the bad guys don’t know who has and who hasn’t, and no newspaper around here would dare to publish any list.

I love to listen to the crickets chirp at night. Haven’t heard the sound of gunfire in many years.
