SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -Armed with a gun and ready to shoot, a Shawnee woman defended her home as man broke down her door. It happened in broad daylight and she didn't back down.

Pam Loman and her husband, James, say they've lived on Homer Lane in Shawnee for over 10 years and have never had any problems. But early Friday afternoon, while Pam was home alone, she quickly figured out, three men outside her home were up to no good.

"I still feel queasy sick at my stomach, a little shaky, a little nervous," Pam said.

...

Pam says the knocking got harder, to just outright banging.

"So my instinct was to go get a gun. I don't know why, I never in my life felt like I needed to go get a gun," Pam said.

She stood near her kitchen, just steps away from the front door, with both hands on her .32-caliber pistol.

And just all of a sudden, with one kick, he knock the door completely in. The frame came flying down. Things came flying everywhere," Pam recalled. "And he saw that I had the gun, and he grabbed the door handle and pulled the door shut."

today’s parents were brainwashed to be tolerant, now they tolerate anything and do not teach their kids to have standards because they had none themselves

I don’t know how we claw back from that

That's sort of what I'm asking about.

Women are too afraid to even reveal their presence, how can they find the courage to properly use a gun? It's just luck.

One good man with a deep voice solves the problem.

Of all weapons, in hospital/police reports the shotgun has the highest kill ratio to shots fired. In close there is no more deadly weapon.

Door frame design in America is a joke. Israel is much better. In the US I would add a small channel iron to both the door and the frame to spread the bolt to more of the frame.

And in the back of the door you can drill a series of 1/2 holes down the door frame, and screw in short lag bolts with the heads sticking out the back of the door where it closes into the frame, with the bolt heads insetting in the holes you drilled like the posts in a bank vault door. It greatly increases the hinge side strength.

In Israel this is done with steel frames, and door bolts that are much stronger, and also come out the top and bottom opening side of the door. You don’t kick in Isreali doors.

“1 shotgun, 1 shot

That’s why I have a double barrel, just to be prepared for such a possibility!

Yep. A single shot, even a .410, can cause damage, but it’s nice to have a backup, just in case.

A .32cal can do it; lifted me off the ground and dropped me, back in ‘74, in a robbery. I walked away from it, though, through the Grace of God.

Dogs are an asset true, but bullets go faster and dead men tell no tales.

Speak for yourself please. This woman has plenty of courage to use a gun properly and hit what she's aiming at. I don't NEED a man to solve the problem - and I know many women just like me. In fact, there's an organization full of us- Second Amendment Sisters

Re: “This woman” in the previous post - I was referring to myself. I have the courage to protect myself and those around me! Just wanted to make it clear who I was talking about.

It’s also be difficult to kick-in a door that opens outward, instead of inward. I remember in my travels thru many towns in Europe, in the 80s, many homes’ doors opened outward and I never heard of any being kicked-in.

You have got to be kidding me! My Hubby fell asleep downstairs while watching TV. I inadvertently fell asleep in the living room where I collapsed after an 18 hr/day plus 3 hr. commute time daily work week.

About 3 am, the patio door opened. Being a light sleeper, I woke up and thought it was my husband. I asked him what he was doing outside. He ignored me. I asked again, he stepped inside without comment. As he turned, I realized it was not my husband.

That made me so mad, I jumped up and starting screaming at the intruder: “Who are you and what the h*#l do you think you are doing coming into MY HOUSE? He froze, as I started toward him, continuing to screech he turned and ran away.

I started yelling for Hubby, the kids came running. I sent one to wake him up and the other helped me double check all the windows and doors. Hubby said you probably just dreamed it, but about that time, a white scout came roaring down the hill going 90 to nothing.

Couldn’t even get the authorities to come out and take fingerprints. They just said call us again, if he shows back up.

Somehow or other in the fight or flight scenario, I seem to be hardwired to fight. He probably would have been even more scared if I had had a shotgun to cock.LOL.

I see the kid being naive and trying to help the dirtbag, who probably had a decent sob-story.

Goodness knows enough adults have been taken by the same ploy over the years.

Children are innocent.

I can't find it in myself to be too harsh with the kid.

The shame is on us, the men, because in a better time this guy would be hanging from a tree in a day or so.

They've bred the man out of us.

Geez! Excuse me for putting in a kind word for men!

Young men giving up on marriage: ‘Women aren’t women anymore’
“When I ask them why, the answer is always the same: women aren’t women anymore.” Feminism, which teaches women to think of men as the enemy, has made women “angry” and “defensive, though often unknowingly.”

There is no excuse for a girl of 15 being naive about strangers in today’s world.
