Have fun. I’m forcing myself to wait until my bluray arrives at the end of the month. :)

I spent many hours last week watching Season 1 and 2. I’m now a fan. Loved tonight’s episode.

I was waiting up until the last moment for something to go wrong on the way to the church and up the aisle to once again delay Matthew and Mary’s wedding. But finally, lo and behold, they tied the knot. Bravo. I see two more possible weddings in the future, one between Edith and the older guy with the bad arm, and one between Carson and Mrs. Wilson after he discovers she may have cancer and realizes how much he cares for her. We’ll see!

As the actor who plays Matthew Crawley says he’s not coming back for another season (unless someone can convince him, possibly with more money) then they will have to get rid of Matthew somehow, and Mary could end up a widow. Will be interesting to see how they work Matthew out of the script, unless they can convince his alter ego to stay.

If Matthew goes, i wouldn’t mind seeing Mary kind of become the next Dowager Countess. She certainly has the snark for it.
Either that or bring in a American cowboy for her like they mentioned in the last season.

Mary has to become the Countess first before she can become a dowager. Are they going to bump off her dad?
She certainly can be snarky.

Yeah, I’m hooked again. Some great one-liners for Maggie Smith. And Bates better watch his back in the nick.

The scene with Mary and Mathew behind the door was one of the cutest and hottest I’ve seen.

I've never seen this show and I live in the UK! I can't imagine there being a thread about it!

As I understand it, it's a kind of upmarket version of "upstairs downstairs". Is that right?

Yes, but the Earl's wife is American à la Jenny Churchill. His heir is a slightly distant middle class cousin with a foreboding angst of his elevated circumstance. Edwardian and World War social changes have caused great upheaval in the Manor and extended estate.

That, and the fact that the setting is Highclere Castle, the ancestral home of Lord Carnarvon, designed by the builder of the Parliament buildings, with grounds designed by Capability Brown and you have a show not to be missed.

One of the actresses pointed out in an interview that she imagined the show would be a hit because they started the original series with three Oscar winners.

You’ve obviously read stories in the British press. Or maybe you’ve seen the episodes in the UK already.

It’s Mrs. Hughes, fl47.

And Matthew has already been written out of the show. Remember in England, the season has already been shown in it’s entirety.

Warning: I was looking for Downton Abbey blogs(I’m an addict too) and accidentally read a Brit one that told me some info that I didn’t want to know. Talk about heartbreak!
