'Journal News' hires armed security guards [gun control hypocrites]

The Journal News of West Nyack, N.Y., has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper's publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.

RGA Investigations, a private security company, "is doing private security at on location at the Journal News as a result of the negative response to the article," according to a police report first obtained by the Rockland County Times (Nanuet, N.Y.) and shared with POLITICO. The guards "are armed and will be on site during business hours through at least January 2, 2013."

Last month, in the wake of last month's elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the Gannett-owned Journal News published interactive maps showing the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties. Conservatives and gun rights advocates publicly protested the paper's move; on Monday, the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association called for a nationwide boycott of the paper's advertisers, calling it a “wanton act” that “has put in harm's way tens of thousands of lawful license holders."

The Journal News continues to host the map on its website and has said that it will soon add a map listing all pistol permit holders in Putnam County.

According to the Clarkstown Police report, filed today, Journal News editor Caryn McBride had "previously reported a large amount of negative correspondence in response to the media outlet's publication of local gun permit holders." McBride shared one email with the police officer from "an unknown subject who wondered what McBride would get in her email now." The officer told McBride the email did not constitute an offense.

The Rockland County Times, a Journal News competitor, led its exclusive report citing the juxtaposition of targeting gun ownership while hiring armed guards.

"Guns are good for the goose but NOT for the gander," Dylan Skriloff, the Rockland County Times' associate publisher & editor-in-chief wrote.

(”Wouldn’t it be funny if someone were to hack the offending media’s website and re-direct all it’s readers to the names and address of all their employees?”)

Someone already did:

No one's going to shoot up a newspaper.

This is just one more way the newspaper is insulting honest citizens who happen to own a gun...

Criminals are the problem not gun owners. Maybe the Journal should print a map of all convicted criminals or pedophiles ... Watch - the MSM will NEVER print the names of criminals. Not gonna happen. They never have - never will...

The MSM hates us more than rapists and murderers... That's telling...

When conservatives go after the MSM they do it by stopping subscriptions. By turning off Network News. By not going to the movies... we don't 'shoot up the people of the MSM...

The man who killed the school children worshiped Satan - not exactly a traditional Christian conservative. Maybe the NRA should hire armed Security Guards and say they're doing it because they fear for their lives BECAUSE radical journalists are nuts. We don't need proof - anymore than it appears they do... Let's play insulted frightened victim and see how they feel. We can point fingers and huddle together...

Maybe the MSM will have the wit to understand how insulting they're being... ( I doubt it) - and while they're at it if the MSM is getting threats they need to check them out - turn threats over to the police and make sure it's NOT like the lesbian who carved hate messages into her own skin - while trying to blame white conservatives.

I enjoy irony!

Newspapers “outing CCL holder” running scared because of what they have done and hiring armed security guards. This will only last a little while and then those that are afraid will join the ranks of ccl holders. Then they will understand the value of the 2nd amendment.

Kind of like how Piers Morgan stepped over the line, and then found over 60,000 people telling the White House that he should be deported. While saying he will deport himself, he now is beginning to understand that the 2nd Amendment is taken real seriously by a lot of people.

The 2nd Amendment is a line in the sand that politicians and now the media are learning is an absolute.

Just make and use a large battering ram on their building. The hired guns will NOT be expecting that and won’t know how to respond! LOL!

It’s now over 100,000 now.

So what? Hundreds of gun owners should get together and follow the employees home. Get addresses, names, phone numbers, Get names of children, schools they attend, class schedules.

THis is easy stuff and would be VERY easy to discourage these and any others lib clowns doing this again.

A Strict Constructionist said: "The problem is that their possession of guns should be no more private than those of a concealed carry permit. It’s time to take sides."

It would make my day if the next major story on this issue is that, since the home addresses of all the hired mercenaries have been published and many of them have decided to leave the state due to security concerns, the security company is forced to cancel its contract with the paper.

Gee...What would the personnel at the paper have to do then? Arm themselves?

Great. I just learned that two neighbors in close proximity are exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. My block is much safer than most in leftist NY.
