Two unrelated facts.

It would be wonderful to have a true conservative - but this is Massachusetts. Some votes for conservative/Republican issues is better than none, and particularly if we get close to or take over the Senate in the next election.

You are correct - - Massachusetts is a hopeless toilet populated by pathetic little mice.
Markey will win in a landslide.

my assessment based on limited in-person observation is that Capuano would be a more formidable opponent than Markey. Capuano knows how to act like a normal American on the campaign trail, so he could siphon votes from Brown’s “Independent Majority”.

The anti-Scottie voices are welcome to try to elect a real conservative in MASS to a position higher than state rep. Get back to us in 30 years with your results.

Markey is not a great candidate to put up against Brown - he is white and male, and those serious character flaws don’t exactly fire up the radical base. :)

Tierney’s “Republican” opponent was execrable. A Socialist RINO gay rights militant.

“my assessment based on limited in-person observation is that Capuano would be a more formidable opponent than Markey.”

I agree. Markey blows, but again, so didn’t Warren.

I have no idea if any Republican (RINO or not) can win any race in MA for the foreseeable future. The last statewide race the MA GOP won was Brown’s win in Jan. 2010.
