Sam Donaldson Tells Tea Partiers 'It's Not Your Country Anymore - It's Our Country'
NewsBusters ^ | 12/24/2012

SAM DONALDSON: The minorities re-elected president Obama, but I'm going with Katty. It's the Tea Party and thinking of the Tea Party and people like that that are driving the Republicans out of contention as a national party. You cannot win nationally if you don't know something about the way the country's changed, and the Tea Party seems to think the country can go back 25 or 30 years. The greatest slogan that I hated during this last campaign was “We want to take back our country.” Guys, it's not your country anymore - it's our country and you're part of it, but that thinking is going to defeat Republicans nationally if they don't get rid of it.

So Donaldson like so many of his colleagues in the media believe that the movement that led to an historic Republican victory at the polls in 2010 will defeat the GOP if the Party doesn’t purge itself of such people and thinking.

Not surprisingly, the only good Republican in these folks’ view is a moderate one.

DUI? That’s a pretty weak response. Didn’t Crappo from Idaho just get a DUI? Whats wrong with saying we want to take back/restore the values, the American dream, the American work ethic and the American love of Country that made this Great nation what it is. We want those values.. and that is what folks on the right should talk about not trading our drunk for their drunk...

Maybe Sam is right ... but descending into the miserable morass of socialism and national bankruptcy is nothing to be crowing about.

The mentors have done their work..

and the progressives' New Normal feeeeeel that they are now the ruling elite of America.

But there are now two Americas.. Abe will explain.

If you could first know where you are and whither you are tending, you could better judge what to do and how to do it. You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

The question today is either the opponents of statism will arrest the further spread of it and place it on course of ultimate extinction, or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become permanent.

Have you no tendency to the latter condition?

Let anyone who doubts carefully contemplate that now almost complete legal combination — piece of machinery, so to speak — compounded of the Republican Party hands-across-the-aisle doctrine and the dreadful actions among statism's chief architects.

Hey Sam, if you and yours keep kicking the hornet’s nest, you’ll end up paying for it one day. BTW, Merry Christmas to all those of FR.

Sam, when you say ‘our country’, who are you referring to? Who are your fellow travelers? Further, when you say ‘Tea Party’, what monolithic group of people are you referring to?

What exactly are the basic principles - around which a diverse group of people you refer to as the ‘Tea Party’ loosely affiliated themselves - that you disagree with and think are ‘outdated’?

The idea that government should not suppress individualism?

The idea that all people in our society, not just those in the entertainment industry, the MSM, and politics should be able to distinguish themselves as individuals and prosper on the basis of their own efforts?

The idea that success begotten of hard work is to be celebrated, not resented and punished?

The idea that it isn’t fair for able bodied and able minded individuals to live off of the efforts of others?

The idea that nations have the right to protect their borders and protect their way of life, without having to worry that rapid shifts in demographics - supported by a single political party because it will benefit them at the voting booth - will lead to a rapid shift in their own lives and the lives of their children?

What I’m hearing from you Sam appears to be to be vituperative. What exactly have those you think of as ‘old America’, done to deserve derision? You have lived the life of an elite, while quite ironically - (if I kindly avoid calling you a hypocrite) pushing politically for a more homogeneous society, grouping most of us into a mass of humanity beneath you - Commoners, whose education and/or opinions you consider to be more primitive and less legitimate than your own. It’s nice to be special, isn’t it Sam?

By the way Sam, politics and political systems are quite dynamic, but the idea of personal freedom is fundamental and in the end will always be the focal point toward which all political systems will eventually move. You can bank on that, although I fear that your old ideas will prevent you from seeing this. Any political system that suppresses the ability of individuals to self-determine, and that pushes for a homogeneous society, will die. Ask those members of the USSR politburo who are still around about this. It was ‘their’ country too, at one point.

Happy New Years Sam. It would behoove you to remember that there are none quite so ignorant in the world as those who are convinced of their own intellectual superiority.

Donalson is spinning a tale on why the jackasses won ..This was an election Romney and his group of GOPES ran. If the TPs had participated in this election Donaldson would be singing a different tune. Romney despite claiming otherwise made very little effort to reach “tea party” goers. Tea partiers are disgusted with GOPE wusses who can’t call a socialist a socialist, a crook a crook, or ignore pocket book issues which affect every “demographic”. This was an election the GOPES ran and lost.

Old Sam is a consummate liar...years back when he was on TV talking about doing away with small farmer incentives, someone dug out the fact that old sam had a farm and was getting incentives on the mohair as he had a flock of angora goats......wellllll, at the time I was also raising angora goats and it took a lot of book work to receive the incentive, and he made the stupid comment.....well, the government just sends him the money. LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE. if you were selling even 1 pound, you had to have the buyer even put down their SS number on bill of sale so they could check up on the sale. Bulk that was shipped to Texas was less paper work, but I had a lot of doll artists that bought by the single pound and wig makers that would buy only a pound or two.....let one of our best yearlings grow hair to 12 inches (that meant skipping one shearing and my husband and I would shear that goat for doll shows. Our professional shearer taught me to hog tie a goat properly or you would never get it sheared.....that 12 inch hair went for 70 dollars a pound, the regular length was 6 inches and that went for 7 dollars a pound, the amount of incentives you got depended on the price you sold the hair for. Cheaper hair got way less incentive. I could go on with this for a few more paragraphs, but you get the idea. You took all your sales to Dept of Agriculture in your town and from there it was checked and sent to Washington.......Yep they just sent good old sam money and he wasn't going to refuse it...he made his dumb statement when he was on the Sunday shows when someone surprised him with the question..

What we need is a full blown depression like the one in 1920 with NO GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION!!!!

It wiped ot the irresponsible and was over in a little more than one year.

In 1929 Roosevelts intervention made it last for 12 years.
