Republicans are in danger of losing their power and Democrats could become a near-permanent majority if the GOP doesn’t conduct a major overhaul on its party operations, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has warned. …

Gingrich said there are 25 issues the party should address, including more work to include minority communities, a push for the party to compete in big cities and a refusal to ignore parts of the country that lean Democratic. …

He makes some good points.

Too many Republicans underestimate the scale of the threat we face.

Not if we deport all of the illegals and seal our borders.

The GOP will be a permanent minority party due to demographics fueled by immigration, legal and illegal, and minority birthrates. Demography is destiny. We have already reached the tipping point.

I thought Newt was bright. If this is news to him Ive changed my impression. The GOP is most definately a permanent minority party and has been heading quickly in that direction since it failed to carry the ball when it had control. the soonet the GOP dies the better.

Why does he get any slack whatsoever, when he’s out there preaching that we need to all get with the program and accept Gay marriage?

Newt is for Newt, first, last and always!

They went too far left while in control. Set us up for the bigger swing left.

“Why does he get any slack whatsoever, when he’s out there preaching that we need to all get with the program and accept Gay marriage?”

With our country circling the bowl, I find it very difficult to get spun up about gay marriage and abortion. I abhor both. I think women who abort their unborn children are murderers. I would prefer to see Gays have some sort of civil union, but that would not shut them up! Same for Marijuana, it’s a social issue. Personally, if there were a way to eliminate these three issues from the political discourse right now I’d do it. The RATS use all of these issues to their advantage, and the Conservatives “rise to the bait” and get their collective asses shot off in so doing. You can’t legislate personal behavior.
We need to focus on the economic fabric of our country, and Newt would have done a very good job in that arena. So I guess you can focus on your pet social issue if you want, but at the end of the day it isn’t going to matter one whit, if there isn’t a country anymore. Whether or not Gays can marry is not an issue that is anywhere near the level of our economic wellbeing in my view.

Says it all really. No wonder you support Newt. :)

Have a wonderful evening.

we are NOT the society that you and I think we are....we have growing immigrant populations and have dumb down young people....most people under 40 couldn't name the first five presidents nor who crossed the Delaware....

we have to change to just keep SOME power...

so some can go off the deep end....because that will just hasten our demiss....that is exactly what the leftards want....

I want individual freedom...I don't want the govt spying on me...I don't want the govt having control over every decision I make...I want to know that hard work will pay off...and I want my country defensively strong and fiscally sound....

in the long run, I don't want to sacrifice all of THAT for homo marriage or prayer in school......

“Says it all really. No wonder you support Newt. :)”

So let me understand! Your litmus test for a Presidential Candidate is that he or she is opposed to Gay Marriage, is that it? So we can go down the tubes as a nation, but you will be damned if a couple of queers can get married! No wonder the country is in the mess that it’s in.

The republicans should all just change their party affiliation to democrat, then who would all the mindless FSA and ‘low information voters’ vote for and support? /sarc

My litmus test is a candidate who doesn’t pander to the Gay lobby and insist that conservatives must accept homosexuality in order to ‘get with’ the times.

If I wanted that, I’d just vote Nancy Pelosi every election.

They need to focus on other communities to let people know that we are not the party of the boogey man. Whether you get their support or not; they can see the party leaders are reaching out and you want to help to lift them up. It may take years for some in those communities to even trust you because of the constant fear mongering that the democrats have done. I have black friends. Close friends. They tell me things that they believe is real. When you tell them otherwise, they will listen, if you don't lie to them. One day, maybe, they will see that most of us on the other side want the same things as they do. We can show them how they could be set into educational programs in which would help to lift them up; better jobs, a better place to live. It would be the same message for everyone. Newt is right about this. I am tired of not seeing the party that I belong to, not reach out. I am tired of them stuck in a boring political correct mode. They can get the nation back on track. We can’t allow the Clintons to continue as he is saying on Newsmax. Our nation is living through the Clinton years of lack of morality. Another Clinton, would destroy us after Obama.

Move on about the gay civil unions. Newt is not saying he is for gay marriage. I am so tired of hearing about civil unions. It is not going to leave society (until God appears, then we all will answer). Courts are hearing cases of person to person estates and wills. The main thing we should do is not allow the politicians to force this behavior on young children. It is wrong and should be illegal because it is child abuse. If they are old enough and they decide to do it; they must live with the consequences. Many people will never accept it; no matter how many laws are pushed. Acceptance is not something they can control because we each have our inner identity. People have to realize, I, for one will never accept this lifestyle as being a healthy one. I will add, what you do in your private life, is none of my business. But don’t push what you think is right on someone else. Just because I don’t accept this, don’t accuse of hate. Accuse me of hate I if do a action of crime, not an action of the first amendment.

I hope Newt or someone can seriously reach the GOP so they understand the only way they will survive as a party is to go back to the principles that they won with. Stop being afraid to be what the founders ask of us. Let the liberals scream, ignore them. Don’t fall into a trap. Don’t let them pick the dialogue. Like with the guns. They are picking the topic to keep the focus away from societal problems from those many sources glamorizing violence. When they begin with the gun control, move the topic where it should go. Don’t get all upset and go on TV and fall in a trap they set you up in. Use your confidence because you have the perfect message and the message is positive.

I read Sarah Palin made an apology to the Republicans for calling them wussies. I think she’s seeing this angry bitter dialogue is wrong. Stay on subject. Stop tearing our people apart. One sneeze the wrong way, dozens of people call for them to be humiliated. We have got some good people who need our support to help to guide them. Newt is a bright man. He can help them if we all help guide him and the others.

If the GOP doesn't change and go back to the basics, I hope we can find out sooner rather than later so a new party will grow. If Newt can't help them, who can. If he fails, time to move on. If the GOP had got behind Newt and Palin, they would have won in a landslide. We had the ball, they dropped it because they didn't like that he had 2 failed marriages and if he got there, he would had made them work and Sarah was a young woman with a zesty flair who could rock the base. They need to respect Newt, Palin and other strong willed persons who will put their lives under the heat and who support the constitution. The Bushes in CT NH need to see what they have been doing is not good and also to stop thinking we all out here are the problem. They take from us; we give and give and they will not listen to us. If they cannot save the country, start a party that will save this country. All of the people who have given their lives and look what is going on in Washington. Go visit the battlefields. Arlington and the Vietnam memorial. Put God back in society and things will improve.

You speak much truth. Unfortunately, because what you say doesn’t tow the public line, it will not be accepted. After all, according to some, Romney lost because of massive voter fraud. They even have pictures of Ethiopians lining up. Now, note that I am not saying there was no fraud - it was present. Just that, by itself, it was not sufficient to influence a win/loss. There are a myriad other factors that were at work, but which would require real effort to overcome. Thus they get overlooked.
