well said!

but u must understand...Its about trusting any idiot to teach/indoctrinate your kids for 180 day a yr VS. the trained person that will, in all likely-hood, never have to use his training to save those same kids....

Given that it is impossible to change the current environment what other options are there? IMHO the necessary changes would have to be repeatedly forced upon us by very heavily armed paramilitary units and even then without 100% success the possibility of an other such incident exists.

Without some type of armed presence at the school anyone wishing to “copycat” what has just happened has several minutes of free fire time. More than enough to run up a significant body count with any type of gun other than a black powder replica weapon. I truly wish it was different but wishing don't make it real (except for Hollywood and politicians).

As for those who project their fears about an armed police presence what result would they really chose from: A live child with some fear of an armed police presence or a dead child free of such fear? People in Connecticut thought they had a third option (the traditional American mindset) until last Friday when they learned differently.

Most of the schools in my county already have armed “resource officers” in the schools. Big freaking deal.

Cops are armed wherever they go. If they sit armed in their own office near the school administration offices what’s the freaking difference if they are seen by the kids there or at the mall or local store?

I was at a JROTC meeting once and an off-duty officer sat across from me. Guess what? He was in plain clothes and armed. The kids could have cared less.

Sure, I’m all for letting teachers have the option to carry. But the Black Helicopter types here, and in the media, are making an armed cop inside a school sound like a squad of SWAT officers camped-out in the cafeteria 24/7.

No, to police officers in schools.

Did we not learn our lessons with DHS and the TSA? Give the government/controlling authority a drop and they grab an ocean.

I would prefer to have a few well-trained administrators/teachers in the schools, former military parents if they must, but NO to police officers/guards/government/some new stupid organization that will need a freakin’ czar to run it.

I support NRA’s proposal for putting armed police officers in schools in every county that voted for Romney.

C’mon, that’s not what the vote is about.

An alternative would be an administrator or two trained to handle a gun. This could be locked up until needed. He/she needs tactical training, too, of course.

Up to 36% yes, 60% no now - does anyone really think that 26 innocent people would have died in Newport had there been an armed guard of some type present when Mr. Lanza started to shoot his way into the school???.....

By the time you get to where the gun is locked up and get it unlocked, it will more than likely be too late.

At Columbine, there was a deputy sheriff in his car outside the school. It took him a while to respond, but when he did he traded fire with one of the killers. They exchanged about ten shots. I am thinking of a gun in the main office, with someone in that office able to use it. He/she would be a lot closer to the action than that deputy. Think of the analogy of a fire extinguisher.

The idea is an epic fail. More FedMob intrusion into the states? The Feds have no business in the schools in the first place.

Yes it is. It is asking us if we want to live in lock-down everywhere.

I agree. We need to do away with the “gun-free zone” nonsense and simply allow legally licensed citizens, including teachers, janitors, coaches, whatever to carry concealed where permitted by existing law.
I have to believe that someday cities like Chicago, New York,Detroit, Distr. of Columbia, etc will see the light and stop stifling the 2nd amendment.
Where this can’t be done under existing laws or regulations, then armed contractors can be hired, but they must not be government employees!

I don't think we really need a law to have all teaching staff arm themselves. What we really need is to take away the restrictions for the staff and law-abiding citizens to arm themselves on school property etc.

If we make schools, (all schools), NON-GUN-FREE areas then those that can and WILL carry, (concealed or not), will step up and protect themselves and their charges.

If the BAD GUY does not know if someone is armed or not, things will change in a BIG way, trust me. You don't want to mess with me because you don't know what I can or will do to protect my kids as well as the children of others. I don't want to mess with you because I don't know what you can or will do to stop me if I were to try something so stupid.

I am quite comfortable with that arrangement and I am prepared to bid you good day and go my way and leave you to do the same. I am also willing and prepared to assist you in protecting you, your family and your right to do same if needs be.

The right thing to do, in my opinion, is: “NO GUN FREE ZONES” as these are established and advertised as “UNAPPOSED KILL ZONES” for the “BAD GUYS” to use as hunting grounds at their pleasure.

GOD Bless,

RAWGUY

A Rather Modest Proposal.LOL.

Just make home schooling compulsory. The public school system has just died, having outlived its usefulness by 2 decades.

Shooting Galleries where children are summarily slaughtered without the slightest chance of the exercise of one of the most basic individual rights since the Magna Carta, that of self defence, set up for use by the possessed, the abominable and the insane , do not seem to conflict with any zoning laws that I have seen.

Bizarro world has indeed arrived here in the United States of Zimbabwe.

What if that someone is in a meeting or called out of the office. In order for a firearm to be useful in a time of need, it must be immediately available.
