Clackamas Mall Shooting: Shooter Jacob Tyler Roberts Trained Using Video Games

Remember the Virginia tech shooting? Video games.

The Beltway sniper attacks? Video games.

And now the Clackamas mall shooting? Also video games, according to nationally recognized former attorney and anti-video game crusader Jack Thompson.

On Tuesday afternoon, shooter Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, armed himself with a semi-automatic AR-15 and went on a rampage at the Clackamas Town Center in Portland, Oregon. He killed two and wounded another before committing suicide.

Thompson said in an interview that “Given this guy's method, his age group and the randomness of it, it's more likely than not that he rehearsed for this on games.”

It’s hardly the first time he has jumped to that conclusion in the hours and days following a mass shooting.

Thompson has blamed video games, particularly the Grand Theft Auto franchise, for nearly every shooting imaginable.

And I agree. Guns have been with us in the U.S. for centuries. Violent video games, 20-25 years, tops. From Klebold to Lanza, this is a common thread.

THrow in Gansta Rap and much of hip hop and you have a huge piece of the picture.

Add to it death metal, and, would you believe... “melodic death metal”!

The 9-11 hijackers repeatedly “flew” the mission using Flight Simulator.

I forgot his name, but there is/was also somebody else, a psychologist or sociologist. who blamed video games, claimed that the games desensitize people to violence and that players eventually become bored, want to see “real blood.”

So, if I go into a mall and start throwing ice cubes at everyone, will they blame it on World of Warcraft because I played a Frost Mage?

I guess the zero responsibility “culture” has to blame something since no one is responsible for their own choices and actions anymore.

It’s the culture, we agree. But then, once you start listing the elements of the culture that contribute to the moral decay of the citizenry, such as video games, melodic (!) death metal, Hollywood, etc, consumers, fans and users of these genres immediately rise up with protests and sophomoric arguments defending the violent trash.

Never mind the fact that the schools are teaching subjective reality and the parents don’t know what the kids are watching or playing.

Hollywood is only one tiny piece of the puzzle and removing it won’t make much difference. Andrew Kehoe blew up the school in Bath Michigan in 1927 killing more than any other mass killer in American history and I don’t even think wireless radio was in common usage then. He was hardly the first.

Here is a listing of just “rampage killers” that doesn’t from the Americas.

as i posted else where
let’s not confuse first-person-shooter video games with computer strategy (from squad level through corps level)wargames. but the clips instead of magazines crowd won’t understand the distinction anyway.

The murderer's mask is described variously as a "hockey-like face mask," a "hockey mask" and a "white plastic mask;" the MSM employees are talking about one of these Arab Spring / occupy masks?

If so that means this is the same dirty little trick the skid marks on Journalism's shorts ("reporters") used when describing the 1960s and 1970s "anti-war" demonstrators' "red, blue, and yellow protest banners." Those were Viet Cong flags.
