U.S. Terrorism Agency to Tap a Vast Database of Citizens (Big Brother lives)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/12/12 | Julia Angwin

Posted on 12/13/2012 6:45:08 AM PST by TonyInOhio

Top U.S. intelligence officials gathered in the White House Situation Room in March to debate a controversial proposal. Counterterrorism officials wanted to create a government dragnet, sweeping up millions of records about U.S. citizens—even people suspected of no crime.

~ snip ~

The rules now allow the little-known National Counterterrorism Center to examine the government files of U.S. citizens for possible criminal behavior, even if there is no reason to suspect them. That is a departure from past practice, which barred the agency from storing information about ordinary Americans unless a person was a terror suspect or related to an investigation.

Now, NCTC can copy entire government databases—flight records, casino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and many others. The agency has new authority to keep data about innocent U.S. citizens for up to five years, and to analyze it for suspicious patterns of behavior. Previously, both were prohibited. Data about Americans "reasonably believed to constitute terrorism information" may be permanently retained.

I am sure they are working hard on eliminating private transportation with the gas prices, police harassment and traffic tickets. And traffic tickets with points is a way to get you license pulled and take the option away.

> Maybe when they take away private transportation I’ll care? Just another brick in the wall.

The government profile of Reverend Al Sharpton:

Age: 123
Gender: male
Weight: 4,759 lbs.
Height: 2’13”
Race: Icelandic/Micronesian/Bolivian/African
Income: $13.56/yr
Religion: Nuwambian Jewish Rastazoroastrian
Terrorist Affiliations: MS/NBC, Nabisco, Dunkin’ Donuts

NOTE: This is a raw file, and information within has not been verified. Sources include USDA Entomology Division, the US Railroad Retirement Board, the FBI, and a bunch of stuff we found on the Internet.

Conclusions: 47% chance of being a terrorist, 63% chance of being a drug abuser, high probability of being euthanized as he will be too expensive for Obamacare.

Recommendation: Continue to compile vast amounts of useless data before deciding if he needs to be detained by the military.

A lady [Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia] asked Dr. [Benjamin] Franklin "Well, Doctor. What have we got, a Republic or a Monarchy?". "A Republic", replied the Doctor, "if you can keep it."-

Sounds like nobody has listened to this warning by Benjamin Franklin...

who is the greater terrorist? the one to be most feared?

one who blows his opposition up? or one that gathers info and turns the state’s citizens on each other?

who is the more successful one? that remains to be seen... folk should have a pretty good idea where this is headed.

societal genocide , no, societal suicide awaits us all.

when radicalism and statism merge their databases, what do you get? The DNC or AQ mailing list perhaps?

we live in a brash neutered world.. courtesy of an electorate that can’t spell much less read account balances but they can tweet and text. go figure.

The black boxes for cars are sure to be wired for a sensor that records acoustic vibrations between 100-2800Hz, the speech range.

TonyInOhio ~:” Welcome to 1984. You’ll learn to love Big Brother, too. Or Else.”

We are already in the world of “1984” with ‘ double-talk ‘ and ‘ double speak ‘ , and headed towards the world of “Matrix “ .

Great! What the government will discover about my e-mails, Facebook postings and Conservative website comments:

1) I don’t like the democrat party.

2) When I go to the shooting range I get pissed because my wife is a better shot with our GLock than I am.

3) Obama-care will be a cross between the ruthlessness of the IRS and the customer efficiency of the DMV

4) The Georgetown Hoyas still suck.

5) Bone-daddies is better than Hooters.

6) Lloyd Dogget is a crook.

7) I like and support the Fair Tax group.

8) FA Hayek, Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell are my favorite writers

9) I read a website called stuff black people do not like and rather enjoy it.

10) I get in furious debates with my gay, left wing cousin regarding Dos Equis vs Shiner.

Yes they did.

OK, so show me that "well regulated" part. I see virtually nothing in the way of citizen logistical preparation on an organized and practiced basis, particularly since the National Guard is nearly completely Federalized. The people can buy all the guns and ammo they want, but if they don't have a way to organize and supply said 'militia of the people,' they've got a losing battle, particularly against an enemy as ruthless as communo-fascists.

It's that Shemitta thingy nobody pays attention to.

The founders did all they could.

Yes, but to what end? Methinks it was a bit more complicated than you perhaps realize.

They wrote an enduring document that gives us the tools.

Albeit with some serious flaws that threaten us with catastrophic import today.

They cannot make us use the tools.

Sounds eerily like Israel and the Torah, doesn't it?

"The founders did all they could."

Yes, but to what end?

To the end permitted by our actions and the state of technology.

"They cannot make us use the tools."

Sounds eerily like Israel and the Torah, doesn't it?

While I wanted to believe 'this time would be different', it appears mankind is doomed to repeat the same mistakes, cyclically, in perpetuity.
