Boehner’s Biggest Threat (Representative Tom Price of Georgia is a conservative force)
National Review ^ | 121011 | Robert Costas

Posted on 12/10/2012 7:15:38 AM PST by Fred

Should a debt deal go sour, the buzz is that Tom Price, a 58-year-old physician from Georgia, may challenge John Boehner for the speaker’s gavel.

“Price is the person we’re all watching,” says an aide close to House leadership. “We know he’s frustrated, but we don’t know much else.”

In an interview with National Review Online, Price won’t speculate about his future, but he acknowledges his growing uneasiness. “My concern is that within our conference, conservatives, who are a majority, don’t have a proper platform,” he says. “That’s true at the leadership table and on the steering committee.”

He’s not a lawyer, which is a huge +1.

What's holding the House conservatives up. Dump Bonehead. Dr. Price sounds like he might just be the bee in King Obama’s bonnet.

I personally met him at The Grand Hyatt in Buckhead on Dec 1st ‘08 for a dinner conference called “A Night of Intelligent Talk - The Changing Face of America” sponsored by 920am WGKA and which featured Michael Medved, Dr. Tom, Ann Wilson Cramer, Ralph Reed and Mylie Mangum as speakers.

Dr. Price is a very honorable man, Boehner needs to go right now.

Boo Hoo Boehner is desperately trying to cave in and (I know you won’t believe this!) with no spending cuts!!! NONE!! The strategy was laid out on Fox this morning by South Carolina Senator LIMPY GRAMNESTY who said “”AW shucks we lose. We must raise rates. We will get ‘em in March at the debt ceiling time”!! You can’t make this up.If Boo Hoo can pull this off, then he will be elected without a raging civil war in the republicrat party!! He WINS!!

Well then why not vote boner out and put in a new leader? I don’t see the problem.

Why wait for a disastrous concession on the fiscal agenda? Wouldn’t a move to replace be more advantageous before a capitulation can occur?

If conservatives are truly aching to fire Boehner let them emulate the NY state senators who chose to caucus with the GOP and make Skelos the majority leader. Get 20 or so conservative Repubs to vote for Pelosi as Speaker. That will punish Boehner for his transgressions. Purging the GOPe is what we should be about now, and this is the easiest way to eliminate Boehner.

Because we are stuck with Boehner until the new Congress is sworn in, in January. It'd be great to be done with him now but there's no mechanism to do it.

WOW— Honorable is not the word I would use...he is just as much a liar as most of them....and he didn’t get “conservative” until John Konop ran against him in 2006.

I spent 6 months “meeting” him in 2004. I was running a state house campaign and we were at all the same events 2 or 3 times a week.....

The only Congressman I have ever met that I trust is Dr Broun...he is not MY congressman, but he and his staff are top notch and the real deal....Dr Broun and I have prayed together for this country often....

That being said....I do believe that Price will be easier to control seeming as his district is way more conservative than Boehners....and we have very active folks around hear that would have NO problem challenging Tom- which is Tom’s biggest fear....He is a doctor, not a lawyer....don’t get me started on doctors and how they rip people off....but anyway- Boehner needs to go- Tom is a weasle but better than boehner.....just plz, don’t think for a second that he is an “honorable” man....ugh....

What are some ways they could rebel against the Leadership NOW, as a group?

In terms of these “negotiations” and their outcome that would have the current Leadership bringing a bill to the floor...?

And BTW, it isn’t only JB, it’s also Cantor and McCarthy and whoever else.

Two questions— “buzz”.

When will we learn to be curious whom it is creating this buzz, sinc it’s not us?

And, second question— “concern”.

Is Mr. Price’s “concern” decipherable, as in WTH does that mean on the Titanic as it slips under water?

I’d take Daffy Duck over the crybaby at this point, but Tom Price sounds much better. Come on House conservatives, now would be a good time to stand up and be counted!

A Speaker may be removed at the will of the House, and a Speaker pro tempore appointed.

In fact it was Boehner who led a coup to replace Newt Gingrich...

The coup failed.

It's not possible to dump Boehner today, peeple.

In my opinion Rep. Price's name as an aspirant to the Speaker post has (with crafty forethought) come out of nowhere to put conservative pressure on JB and to stiffen his spine.

This is an EXCELLENT move at the right time on the part of the congressional conservatives (playing one of the few cards they hold at the moment).
